Sore, Sore Monday
I am as sore as I thought I was going to be... and even a little bit more.
The first weekend of ball went by in a flurry, which was alright... a couple games yesterday went down a treat. It took quite a few throws to get my arm back in gear, but I eventually got there. We won our first game 10-2, I went 2 for 2, one walk (actually hit by a pitch) with 2 runs scored. A pretty decent game in the batters' box. The second game wasn't quite as good. I think I went 0 for 3, including a chance to take the lead late in the game with two outs and runners on 2nd & 3rd. I fought in there, but the strikezone was so big (according to the umpire), that I couldn't reach the low and away fastball that he was calling a strike before to strike out. That was pretty rough. I'm still kind of rusty in the field, but I've heard we're practicing on Sunday, so I'm gonna do my best to shag as many grounders at second as possible. I'm much better than the way that I played this weekend. Fortunately, I did play every inning at second, so it does seem that the job is sort of mine.
The team ended up only being 4 runs away, on differential, from being in the playoffs tonight. That was kind of shitty, but we didn't win enough and we didn't really deserve to be there in the first place. It just would have been nice to be playing on another nice day like yesterday.
Besides muscles everywhere, including my hands, being sore... I got a little too much sun on my nose and cheeks and they feel a little burnt this morning as well. It was such a nice day and being it the first day I was out all day, I never thought to do the sunscreen or anything like that. Luckily, its still April or else I would be a big red tomato I'm sure.
Last night, it was Game 2 for the Flames & Ducks... so, I met up with the lads down at the Landing, since Barb was gonna stick around work for drinks and such and she convinced me that it was sort of fruitless for me to drive all the way back into town for a while. More on that in a bit. But yeah, I went to the Landing and had a few pints, watched the last two periods there and we all played some poker on the TVs there. That was all fun & games. I didn't stay too late... I think I was home before 11:30pm, so it was a pretty good night.
Today doesn't look like it's gonna be busy on the EDGAR side of things. I think I might have to step up and finish up a filing that Devin was working on, just to make sure its done. We are starting to pack up the office today, I've already cleaned up around my desk and such. There really isn't a whole lot of stuff around here that I have to worry about. But we'll take most of our desks, all except for Devin's, I think, to the new office and then Devin will be moved over tomorrow when everyone is setup and ready to go tomorrow.
After work today, I'll go meet up with Barb, finally. She said she'd be putting around the house all day today, so after I finish up moving all my crap to the new place, I'll give her a call and go see her. No idea what we're gonna do... but I have to redeem my monthly visit sometime. I have a feeling that they don't carry over to the next month at all.
I also have to take Benny's Red Wings jersey into the cresting place sometime today. He wants to get Steve Yzerman's #19 on it. I'm hoping that they can get it done really quickly.
Tuesday... I'll probably do some more packing of all my stuff at the house. I will probably look to move the rest of what I need on Saturday, including my bed and stuff. That way, I can get some help with Mom's truck to get all the big pieces into Sunnyside, 'cuz they sure as hell won't fit in my car anywhere.
That's about all I've got at the moment... don't think there is really anything else on the go.
