How To Ruin Potential

Image hosting by Photobucket
I thought it was gonna be a nice morning... the sun was shining, there was still a fresh touch of frost on some cars and the promise that this was my Friday. I was really impressed with the potential the day had.

And then I got to thinking what I'll be getting up to after work... Barb never got around to giving me a call yesterday as she said she might be free today, so she'll lose out this afternoon as I might go for a beer with Kelly. I continued thinking... well, I shouldn't have too many... don't want to get caught (that would just ruin everything) and I have quite a bit of laundry to finish up and get the car ready for the road tonight.

I passed by the car that was in front of me and went down the stretch until...

Image hosting by PhotobucketYup, I got caught going a touch too fast on the road out to the TransCanada Highway. 'Aw fuck...' I exclaimed to myself. What a load of crap.

The worst thing about that is that it was a clear, clean day on a 7km straight stretch of road. I wasn't drag racing, but there wasn't anything about the driving that was unsafe, per say. The road was fairly quiet at 7am this morning and a patrol car with no lights on the roof passed by me and that was that. What a way to ruin the potential of a good morning.

It did get me thinking though... unless it was on a generally unsafe spot on a highway (ie. lots of fatal crashes or regular crashes, for that matter) or unsafe driving conditions and people were speeding, that's when enforcement of these limits should be in place. A clear, paved, straight road... with a fairly low speed limit... just seems like a cash grab opportunity to me. A way to take advantage of drivers who are confident enough not to look at the speedometer as to keep a check on the way that they're driving.

If there are people who are in the school of thought that there should be speed limits on every road, which there are these people, because there are limits on EVERY road in Canada... then it should be made that cars of electronic governors in their vehicles (all vehicles, no exceptions) to not allow people to travel in excess of posted speed limits. All speed limit signs would have electronic transmitters to change said limits in the car's governors.

Until that happens, having the freedom to break said laws seems rather greedy. Again, controlling unsafe situations is what should be done... a little bit more discretion could be used in these situations, if you ask me.

And I would be up to debate any angle of this situation, if I'm not busy, on MSN. belial74@hotmail.com

Yeah, that got me pretty riled up this morning... it's almost tough to concentrate on other things. But I'll try...

Last night after work, I dropped off my DVD player and a load of my DVDs over at the Sunnyside house for Jen. She didn't have a DVD player in her place, so I brought mine down early since I wasn't using it at all. I hung around there for a while last night... get used to the surroundings a bit more.

I grabbed a couple pics of Jen's animals that she has in the house...

On the left, her hairless dog, Costas... and the right, Maggie, the talking cat. Costas has to be one of the ugliest creatures I have ever seen... he's 13 years old and when Jen is around, he bounces around like a little puppy. It's pretty creepy. Maggie, doesn't actually talk words-wise... but she meows and such all the time. I came into the house and said hi to the cat... it meowed straight back.

That was pretty much my night... was home just after 10pm... threw some laundry into the machines before bed and called'er a night.

So yeah, it doesn't look too busy here at the office quite yet. A couple more exhibits to a filing that should be done for tomorrow. I'm hoping that the rest of it comes in today, so I don't leave Devin with a whole load of work. His performance all-round has been less than stellar and is really making everyone think.

Countdowns on the go at the moment...
19.5 hours until I take off for Victoria...
6 days until the NHL regular season ends...
9 days until the playoffs start...
10 days until the 1 year anniversary of starting the Tales...
12 days until we move the office into Forest Lawn...
17 days (tenatively) until I move into Sunnyside.

It's kind of an exciting month. I'm not too sure, but I'll try to make a post tonight. I think the long weekend will prove to have no posts at all, unless I can sit down at the computer at Teg's place and get something done. We'll see though. Have a good weekend, if I don't post before hand.
