Errrrrbleck!

It's sad but true... this was the result this morning as we were all getting up to go to work this morning. A thick layer of this white, watery substance. Who the hell invited November to the party anyways?
Man, was it ever coming down last night... when I had gotten out of Mac Hall, there was already a couple inches on the ground, quite a bit on the car. I then realized, I should have bought the scraper with the broom end... you know, to sweep the excess snow off the windows. Yeah... hindsight... a great thing, no?

I wiped what I could off the car and took off. It wasn't really snowing too bad when I was driving through town. Still very slushy on the roads, but nothing too terrible. It was heading out on 16th Ave when it turns into the Number 1 Highway (officially) again and the lights disappear as well as the visibility that it gets a tad scary.
The tires that are on the car held up pretty well. Once I was out of the city limits, I found myself driving at a fair pace and held my line pretty well. I was leading a small pack of cars up until we reached Chestermere, then the snowfall just got worse, the wind changed direction and I caught up to a couple vehicles that were goin' superslow through the only lane that was really clear enough to drive safely through.
It was pretty much follow-the-leader on the Trans-Canada for about 20km... and then I followed the same van into Langdon down the 7km stretch between there and the highway. A lovely driving experience...
Anyways... the concert.
I ended up goin' by myself last night. I'll tell ya... I didn't feel bad paying for the extra ticket. If I saw him at the Saddledome, it would have cost me even more than paying for the second ticket at Mac Hall. The song selection was awesome, Matt Good was pretty much on top of it all and there was an excellent encore with him finishing the set on acoustic, by himself... the last song being Apparitions. Perfect. I got my t-shirt and pretty much got the hell out of there to avoid the wintery rush.
The band before, The Ladies and Gentlemen, were also pretty good. If I wasn't in a wintery rush, I would have gone back to the sales table and picked up their CD. I was pretty impressed.
That'll probably be the last time I buy a second ticket without any one person in particular planned to take... that's just too much stress. I think my taste in music and taste in friends don't really mix too well here in Calgary. I'm sure Rob had an okay time at the Arcade Fire, but he wasn't too excited to see them. Nor did anyone really jump at the chance to go see Matt Good. You're not seeing me buy tickets for the Black Eyed Peas or any such junk as that... although if Gwen Stefani came to town, I'd do my damndest to try and get as close as possible... (what a minx!)
Well, it may just be a busy day of little small jobs... got some sort of training course to go to tomorrow, so I should clean up as much as I can, 'cuz I don't really trust Meathead to get it all done. I can't be having him pull me down into a disaster... although he hasn't done too bad, I just don't trust him... at all.

No. Way.
I can't believe there's snow already. Level with me. Those are just pictures from last January, right?
Crazy. It all makes me yearn for when Matt Good was playing here in the Sault, in August (I think). It was bloody warm out, I remember that much at least. Good summer. Good times.
Winter, eh? Ah well, just another aspect of the Canadian Dream, I suppose. Anybody for a snow cone?
