The Eve of Ghouls and Ghosts
Oh yeah... my little red toy has got some toys in it. Woo hoo!!
Yesterday, as predicted... I didn't get a chance to see Theresa. The stock in her is falling... how she will expect to get to the Christmas party is beyond me without a little face time. I tried giving her a call and left her a text message... but she only got back to me an hour or two before she got to work.
So instead, I went over to Julie's and dropped off the new Nine Inch Nails CD, which she wanted to borrow and then I helped her get her laptop up and running so she could get all over music and other files off of it. That took quite a while... lots of copying system files from one computer to the other to get it running.
Afterwards, I went for a drive to kill time before my appointment at Future Shop for my car. I thought I would stop in at Chinook Centre and see if I could shop for some Halloween gear for the party in the evening. Well, it was definitely a mistake to think I could go into the parking lot there and get a decent spot. I couldn't even get a spot far from the mall... then it took forever to get out of there.
Note to self: try not to drive around Chinook Centre... ever.
When I finally got my ass out of there, I headed down towards Southcentre Mall. The traffic was horrendous. That was traffic I could definitely do without. On the way down, I stopped off at the Canadian Tire on Southland Drive. I grabbed myself a new hockey stick for floor hockey. The blade on my stick in the garage is a little thin... although my wrist shot is pretty good with it. I was gonna get myself a windshield scraper, but didn't manage to pick one of those up. That's what I'll do today, I'm thinking.
Out of Canadian Tire, I made it down to Southcentre. I wanted to find one of those costume shops there, but there wasn't one. I did see the new Team Canada jersey for the Olympics this year... they're not quite what I'd like, but I'm sure I'll have to get a red one for February. I will have to decide who I'll have on the back... Heatley and Nash are the front runners to go on the jersey.
A quick lap in Southcentre, I just gave up and headed down to the Future Shop. I dropped the car off at about 4pm and they were able to work on it right away. An hour earlier than the appointment. I was the last car on the schedule, so I'm sure once they were finished, they could probably take off. So that was pretty excellent.
The Future Shop is right close to Chinook Centre, so I was able to walk across MacLeod Trail and into the mall. I debated watching a movie... but nah. I did a lap in Chinook, including the costume/Halloween shop, but that was pretty picked over. Not a lot of stuff in there. Then, I went into Joey Tomatoes (yes, Chinook has one too) to watch the Senators/Leafs game. My, my... was I impressed with the talent in there too. These Joey's restaurants are evil little places... they can break my heart only after a couple beers. My server last night, Mel... my goodness, was she ever gorgeous. A few more visits there and she could be a Hall of Famer.
At about 7pm, I got the phone call from Future Shop that my car was ready... woo hoo!! I paid up... my heart broke as I left... but it was quickly put back together when I was super-excited to see the car.
Woo hoo!! The remote starter rules! I picked up my keys and vroom! I wasn't even in the car... hey ya! Got in and plugged in the new Franz Ferdinand album and hoo wah! I'm in business. The drive home was filled with loud music. Franz, Matt Good and the Arcade Fire. It had to be done.
Got home... showered... changed... put some batteries in my older digital camera and headed to the pub. I dressed up like I was on vacation... homage to Corner Gas last week with Brent's Staycation. I even packed a lawn chair into the trunk of the car, but I thought that might be a tad excessive... but it was there, just in case.

Well, it was pretty busy in the pub last night... not a bad little party. Not a lot of familiar faces, but some. A lot of different costumes... some people didn't dress up... wankers. Ha! It was all fun. Got a few pics... didn't really get a chance to see Theresa... only a couple times for a moment or two. So instead, I decided to hit on others... ha ha!
Like I said, homage to Corner Gas... every time I needed a beer, I would go up to Marni and ask for a beer in the way of writing a postcard.
"Dear Marni, the South of France is great... my beer is empty though. Wish you could bring me another... miss you lots, wish you were here.... Clayton." It got a giggle each time... it's a funny way to go about doing these things, I must say.
Raquel was about as well... danced with her a bit. But she was hangin' out with two huge dudes dressed as (or maybe they actually are and are not in the Halloween spirit) cowboys. Not exactly a great costume... but what can you do? They were huge... so no arguments.

The party was kind of uneventful though... I was only on bottles again last night, so I was able to keep myself in check. I think I took off just after 1am... it really wasn't keeping me there. So, I decided to come home at a decent time and pretty much straight to bed.
Well, it's been a rather quiet morning... better get some stuff done. I need to do up some dishes before the folks get back and maybe go find myself a window scraper and fill the tank with gas today. Just an excuse to drive, really... So, I'll catch ya later.
