Vindication

Okay, first of all, I'd hate to gush... but I fear that I have to. One of my favourite readers of the Tales is also one of the better Bloggers in the land o'Blog... please check him out if you haven't already... The Blog of Hohmann is a great spot for Blogging nonsense, more than most other places on the net... I swear to ya. I'm not just saying that just 'cuz he gave me more Sherpa-eque pictures to Photoshop, but his Blog is great and it deserves more recogniition...

And Mark, I will get those pics done... they look awesome.

Okay, to the title of the piece tonight. I am vindicated of my security job. I hadn't officially quit until leaving the bar tonight when I ran into John, the guy who gave me the job in the first place. Well, I guess I did bullshit him a bit, but my ankle still isn't up for the potential rigors of security work as it is. What he didn't know was that I am 3 days into my job already. Nevertheless, he was really cool about the whole thing and we'll go for a drink next week sometime. I was really shitting myself about the whole thing, but catching up with him in person, me being half-pissed, really worked in my favour. So, now I have to get the uniform back and he's got a cheque for whatever time I did for him and he's really cool about it.

This is a good example of keeping your cool under mild pressure. I could have screwed it up... but I didn't. Even better, I told the truth for most of it. The only thing I really fibbed about was maybe that I could have been back to work sooner than later. That's it. I did get a better opportunity. I couldn't risk the rigors of the job. I am still working close to his offices for a Friday afternoon drink. I was a tad panicked, but my faith in the people that I meet pays off again.

I don't recommend taking advantage of some people, but I did bend the truth in my favour a bit. I do reiterate that I'm not intimidating enough for security work, but I suppose I could have been a little less opportunistic about the whole thing.

The result in the end is good, I believe. I work for a company that requires my skill and has an atmosphere that is good for me. I think thats a good thing and I'm glad I didn't offend anyone getting there.

Needless to say, I have taken my shots from the peanut gallery... *Louise*... about switching jobs so soon...

Don't worry, Weeze, you're not the only one... you're just the only one who left a comment on the Blog.

So, I feel better now. Things are looking up... more to follow soon... including the move of offices and a potential night out on Saturday. Right now, I've had a few too many beers to recollect anymore. My vindication is enough for tonight.

Hehehe, you must have snuck this post in while I wasn't looking. I totally missed it! Thanks for the generous words, however, I'm looking at getting a "real" job soon, and I don't know how that's going to play on the blog. Probably a lot like you were thinking several weeks back.

Anyway, thanks again and have fun with all the pics. I've got it pretty bad, man. Sometimes I take a picture now just because I figure the Sherpa would look good in it.
