Things I Forgot...

Well, in my haze this morning, I found that I forgot to mention a couple things. What was with that comment left on Sunday night by Funabashing? Wow, was that weird. It looks to me it was some fantastic dream about telling to stuff his by getting the best of him argument wise. Which I don't think would be the toughest thing in the world to do. I did actually enjoy reading that comment after I fully recovered from my rough sleep/hangover in the morning. In some way, I found it comforting to read about (fiction or non) getting the best of a religious fanatic. They just drive me nuts.

Secondly, Dodge, of Dirty Hairy Mouth fame, finally got some more posting done on the DHM site. They include my last weekend in the UK and a great Crayfish Party the weekend after. Nice work on the postings, Dodger!

Alright, onto new business then or at least updated business from previous posts. No, the firmware upgrade did not help my wireless situation at all. The next test would be to see if a different wireless card will communicate with the router. Question: Is there a way to fully clean off any record of the installation of the wireless card that I have? It seems to me that there is always something left behind each time I uninstall the device from the Device Manager. Just a thought.

Okay, I wanna dip my toe into the news for a second. David Ahenakew, the former aboriginal leader and now former Order of Canada recipient, I think got the bum rap out of the goody-two-shoes of the country. He was stripped of his honour now after he made comments about the Holocaust and described Jews as a disease. Alright, that's what it said in the article on CANOE.ca, but I haven't seen the whole transcription of the what he said in that article. The quotes that they did use seemed to me to be rather general comments about the political standing in Germany.

"The Jews damn near owned all of Germany prior to the war. That's how Hitler came in," Ahenakew said in the taped interview.

"That's why he fried six million of those guys, you know."

Now that's a general comment. Although he made it very colourful by saying 'damn near' and 'fried six million,' but is that not true? That doesn't seem to me that he's inciting racial hatred towards anyone, he made the point (educated or not) that Germany brought Hitler to power on his views of ethnic cleansing and making a better Germany (none of which is in my opinion, just stating the case). If those are the two quotes that their gonna cite Ahenakew on, then I believe that the is inciting something far worse against him.

The Legendary Golden Jet, Bobby Hull, also made some sort of pro-Hitler comments some years back and he had to swim through a pool of shit for some time. His comments were also pretty 'generalized' in making a point. Why is it that any general comment about Hitler and the holocaust makes everyone accuse so quickly? That's not right, that's not freedom. It's like there isn't a time and a place to look at a world tragedy and the events leading up to it in an objective nature.

If David Ahenakew or Bobby Hull came out and said that Hitler should have done a better job getting rid of Jews, then yes, I would believe there would be some inciting of hate and Pro-Nazi beliefs. But as far as I know, which I could be wrong still, they were just stating some facts about events in history. I would love to see the articles and interviews in full, before I make a complete and whole decision, but if the media is accurately describing the events that had transpired, then I think they're wrong and they should apologize. The media, it would seem, would be inciting large crowds of people to protest about stating facts.

I wish the media could just give facts and not opinions. Isn't that what they're supposed to do anyways?

Ummmmm... anyways... that may or may not ruffle some feathers, but I think it's a point that needed to be said. Some people love to jump on the 'hate bandwagon' a little too quickly for my liking. Some people do terrible things and should be put in the spotlight for it... murders, molestations and bombings, sure... but comments, statements and gestures, especially captured by the media, have to be analyzed a few steps further before condemning anyone fully. We all know how the media can twist and turn stories, take things in one context and shift them to another. We the media reading people have to be vigilant in our reading to see where the direct quotes come from and what they actually mean. All I want is the general truth... not what some 27 year-old hotshot that looks pretty "thinks" about the situation... just tell me what happened. Is that too much to ask?
