121st Post...

Wow, thanks to Blogger's new addition of the number of posts per Blog site, I now know that this is my 121st post on the Tales of the Opiated Sherpa. Oh, how the posts fly by, eh? I was wondering when I was going to hit the magical number 100, but I didn't honestly think I had surpassed it already. Cool.

Now if only I knew how many words I've posted... that'd be even cooler.

Since today was the start of the Stampede in Calgary, drinking commenced early in Langdon. I had opened by first beer on the crack of noon and then progressed to the local bar after the third beer. It's the first time I'd been to the Wildfire since I've been back... I was in there a few times before I left and before it was actually called the Wildfire.

There as I was watching Michelle Wie miss the cut at the John Deere Classic, a guy named Barry asked if I wanted to play some pool. I wasn't really gonna stay too long, 'cuz I was gonna try and get home for something to eat. But eh... that isn't the me I left behind in England. Game on!

Once the pool started, the beer went down a little easier. This Barry fella though, he was a tough one to read. He was telling a story or two about how his buddies and him went out once a week on Mondays to play a little pool and how he could hold his own, but I think there was an alterior motive to his play the further we went in to it. I cleaned him up the first game and he won rather diffcultly the second. Then the games got a little bit more intense the way they went on. I went up two games to one and then his play got a little bit better. He was making some longer shots and some tough shots off the cushion that he claimed he wasn't any good at. He ended up going up 3 games to 2... but then I wasn't having any of that. He took a good sized lead in the sixth game, only to have me storm back and level it up. Then the seventh game was all mine. After I had beat him, he packed up pretty quickly back to the bar as he "needed a break." Ha ha... poor guy. I have a feeling that if he was gonna win another game or two, he would have tried for money or drinks. I could just see it in him.

I think 5 pints later... I was off back home for a bite to eat and a quiet Friday in. Yay for quiet nights in Langdon...

No, not really.

As it turns out, I can plug my laptop into the network WITH WIRES... but my efforts to solve the wireless problem have still been fruitless. I don't understand it... it was working before. Now, it doesn't. Drivers are okay, software looks okay, router still displays a secure wireless network... but why doesn't my card receive an IP address? How to learn wireless networking the hard way.

Tomorrow's mission... get my driver's license sorted out. I need to get back on the road. Not in the drunken state that I'm in at the moment. My eyes can barely focus on the BlogExplosion numbers I have to click on whilst surfing.

Thanks to those who have signed up to some of the hit exchanges under my referral. Hopefully, you'll get the same credit clicking enjoyment I once had. If you haven't seen that page of hit exchanges, do click the link in the paragraph... it could get you a few more readers.

Right... well... I'm slowly falling away into a nice cozy state. That coffee in the morning will be a nice refreshing wake-up call, I'm sure.
