My Shirt Chafes My Burn
Album on the MP3 Player: Rebel, Sweetheart by the Wallflowers... I still haven't given this one a really good chance yet. Now is as good a time as any.
Well, after I wrote the first entry today, I found that my sunburnt shoulders have now decided to peel. Man, now I look like a half-peeled mandarin orange at Christmas time.
Something I realized moments ago... I won't be able to Blog as much as I have before. I really only started this Blog at the end of April because I was unemployed and had nothing better to do. Oh crap, now I'm gonna have to contain my thoughts again for 8 hours at a time before I can get home and rant and rave my ass off. Boy, do I sound confident that I'll nail this interview or what?
The way I see it, for how quickly they were to call me up from when I sent my resume in, how urgently they wanted me in for an interview AND to stage an interview at 6pm on the last Friday of the Stampede (or any Friday for that matter) means that they NEED to hire someone right away.
I bumbled and hummed and hawed through the mini-interview of general computer questions that was asked of me and STILL it was okay. Granted, I wasn't really ready for a mini-quiz just after I was pulled out of the bathroom to answer the phone. I mean, I really struggled though... I couldn't even remember the other brand of processors generally known besides Intel (yes, it's AMD) on the phone... and I have an AMD computer on my desk and I was staring at it while I was talking to buddy on the phone. Don't sign me up to Jeopardy or any other game show.
Ah well, I did handle it in the jovial & playful voice that I have, so I've probably come across very personable... which I am, no lie there... but it might help.
I figure that a pre-interview can or two of Sleeman's Honey Brown will be in order. I'm usually pretty good at interviews as it is, I don't generally get too nervous, but a small drink will take off whatever edge I have left. It'll probably actually increase my sense of humour as well... that will help as well.
My Dad thinks he's also gonna be playing the job market again. He's only been in the job that he's in at the moment for just over 6 months. He's a construction estimator and he does alright at it, but he was the worst experience playing the job market. He's actually told employers that he was looking elsewhere for work and he wondered why during "restructuring" that he was let go... surprisingly early. I did shake my head in disapproval when he told me that. I didn't even tell Maritime Life that I was leaving for England until my month's notice... and I had been planning it for 4 months. Only 1 person, who wasn't management, knew for quite a while.
Handing in my notice was quite cool. My manager at the time was in Vancouver and I was able to take advantage of a "team-building" trip to tell everyone that I was leaving for England in like 4 weeks time. Ha... it was great!
Right... that'll do, I think. Goodnight, Bloggers!
