Ball Is Not In My Court
Hump Day... insert your joke here.
I don't really know how I wanna go about writing about yesterday at the moment... I am sort of having problems with my... my... vocabulary at the moment. Ummm... well, yesterday wasn't the greatest day at work... kinda aggrevating. So, it was kind of a good thing that Pa needed some extra time and I got my walk up to Joey's in. I managed to sneak a few in before the phone call came, but my real intent was to get to the Wildfire last night.
I had printed a copy of the standings of the hockey pool off to give to Greg and Theresa had said to me on Sunday night that she'd be in there and not working. 'Thumbs up,' I thought. So, home... dinner... out the door.
I had forgotten that it rained a bit over the last couple days and going the back way around the bar does get a little muddy... d'oh! I have to give my shoes a good cleaning.
Sure enough, the gang was in there... Reese, AJ & Al (AJ's Dad) were all sittin' around the pool tables... it was AJ's birthday last night as well. Theresa was about and said hello and stuff like that. Reese & AJ were already into the shots and Rye... AJ being super-bombed by 7:30pm, which was about the time I got in there. I had shown them the standings sheet, AJ being pretty pleased with himself about being in second, being as drunk as he was, he was quite vocal about it. Heh heh.
I had sat down, drinking bottles only, watching the Boston/Montreal game on the new projector & screen (which looked okay), and tried to get a few words in with Theresa. That wasn't quite working as well as I would have hoped... AJ was still about and just rambling on about hockey and Reese sat down and joined in for a while. Timing was pretty much everything... and they didn't have it. I just couldn't pull away... if my attention wasn't towards AJ and his conversation, he'd somehow notice and raise the level of his voice so he got my attention back. Eventually, despite playing a tad "hard-to-get" (I figure), Theresa took off saying that she'd be back... she was only getting stuff for her Mom.
Yeah, she didn't come back.
So, I hung around for a little while longer... not too long. Was feeling a tad responsible last night... a) only on bottles and b) leaving before 11pm.
Now, I'm trying my best not to be too worrisome, like I have been in the past. My head spins more stories and works out more possibilities than any British Government official and I get to the point where I've convinced myself that I've done something wrong and depression ensues.
No... not this time. The ball is in her court... she's got my number. I suppose she gets priority with my number, but as it stands, I'm still interviewing for the position of my next date. And as much as I don't want to think about it, I'm not really in the mood for any games either. I firmly dislike those games and if that's what it all comes down to... forget it!
Granted, if I didn't think about it too much, I probably won't have too much to write about on here, right? Exactly!
Onwards then...
Today, I get the pleasure of writing another pleasurable e-mail to my favourite client at the moment... (here's your tractor, scrape the sarcasm off of that one). Actually, it's more like a civil, yet firm, e-mail to my new arch-nemesis of this job. That is something I'm sort of looking forward to... I sure would like to be scathing, but it's probably not in my best interest.
I'm hoping that Meathead doesn't have pistachio nuts in again today... all he did yesterday was make little slurping and smacking noises as he sucked off all the salt from the nuts. I didn't hear any crunching noises, so I have much doubt that he actually ate the nuts. I unplugged my MP3 player from my computer's speakers yesterday and put my headphones in to combat the evil noise... that worked, 'cept for in between songs.
NHL Game Notes, the website, is sure doing a good job of making me look like a poor hockey pool organizer. My reliable source for statistics of past seasons is failing miserably this year... having not yet set aside their statistics section for the year. Wankers!
Finally, it looks like there may be another trip to Joey's in the plans today. May be meeting Kelly and Josh there for a drink or two tonight. If the squad was anything like yesterday, that half hour walk will be sweet.
Right... onward with my day!

You are one of very few people I've ever heard refer to Wednesday as "Hump Day". I've always loathed Wednesdays...bad stuff (if it happens at all), will inevitably happen on a Wednesday. Hope your's goes smoothly.
