Whattya Mean No Big Screen!?!?

It's a good thing I planned to stay home for Coach's Corner on HNIC last night, because when I went to the Wildfire last night, the NASCAR race was on; much to the fault of Gord (Team Lowes Racing). Dad and Gord were sitting at one of the high tables in the Wildfire when I walked in, Gord intently watching the race and Pa was finishing up his beer to head home. Unfortunately, Gord decided to return the ribbing I gave him when I gave him a hard time about 'drafting a wussy hockey pool team.'

"I deserved that," I retorted.

"Yes you did," he said.

So, the evening started on a funny note. Once Dad had left, Gord and I were just chatting racing... he's a big NASCAR fan, he said he'd been to a couple races. To listen to him, he does sort of have that voice of a southerner who loves his racing. It really does fit the bill. But we chatted racing and his love for Jimmy Johnson, who I had learned afterwards had won the race.

Rob had given me a call at the bar. Him and Michelle had their flights bumped up or they didn't understand the schedule so well, that they actually took off for Florida last night instead of tonight. Ooops. So, he called in a panic, 'cuz he still hadn't even packed yet, to see if I could look after the house right away, instead of when they thought they were gonna leave. So yeah... that was all good.

After getting off the phone with Rob, I noticed that there was a text message on my phone... it was Baza! If I was in england... What would I dial to reach u?..... Exactly.... I'm pissed with Juddy.... Help us! Well, I'm pretty sure I understood what he was goin' on about. It looked like he was trying to dial my number but was failing miserably, so instead of responding by text, I gave him a ring. It was just after 2am in Colchester, Barry and Juddy were wasted, standing outside of Bodrum's Kebab shop having a pizza, watching the emergency vehicles attend to a taxi cab who got rear-ended in a hit-and-run by, what had appeared to be, a "Kosovan Refugee" (according to Juddy). Seven and a half minutes later... a good chat with both Baz and Juddy and it only cost me 35 cents a minute, so I am to believe.

Reese had shown up at the bar not long after... he sat himself at the bar until I had noticed he had arrived, so I called him over to join us and he did.

We all continued to watch the race... that until the Flames/Oilers game had come on and the channel had to be switched. Greg's satellite service was down, because he was expecting his projection unit and screen to show up over the last couple days and it didn't. He wasn't very happy... nor was Gord, 'cuz he didn't really wanna go home, but he felt he had to, to finish watching the race. That was about 8pm, I guess... start of the second game, yeah, that's right.

Then it was pretty much vodka/red bulls (which I introduced to Reese and he loved), pool, hockey and flirting with Theresa, who worked the bar again on what will be rare occasions. It was pretty much that until 3am this morning when we finally were sort of getting shifted out.

During the night, I had mentioned to Theresa that I had tickets to the Matthew Good concert and there seemed to be a more genuine response that she could if she wasn't working. So that was a little more promising. On the way out, I just sort of made doubly sure what the response was like and I think it was just as good. She had made mention that the last concert she had gone to was the Black Eyed Peas, oddly enough as a date with a guy from where she works, and all he did was buy her doubles of whatever all night and wasn't really good company for the date, 'not to say that I would be or anything.' So that was quite good... I'm gonna have to follow up on that a little bit more, maybe try and arrange something else soon too. I've got the ball rolling and there is still a couple weeks before the concert... who can wait now??

Reese and I declined an offer from Theresa for a ride home... neither of us were really all that drunk. We were more hyper than anything... good ol' Red Bull! I had about 8 of them on a near $100 evening... Reese was probably about the same, but neither of us were hurting or anything on the walk home, so that was quite good.

This morning, I was up for 10am... right as rain and ready to tell the story. I really wish I was able to sleep in a little bit more, but alas... I could not. Maybe an early night tonight will make sure I'm all caught up in the sleep department. That'd be a good idea.
