A Rough Sunday

Hockey Night In Canada was only a mild success for me... the success of it all was that it's back! The drop of the puck, the red light flashing, Don Cherry & Coach's Corner and the chatter of other excited hockey fans.

Yup, I went down to the Wildfire and well... that was another expensive night. Well, not too bad, I guess... but I might has well spent a fortune, 'cuz I sure felt like I did this morning. I did eat quite a bit last night, but all I drank was Keith's... so it was an all-beer fever this morning.

I was in my pajamas until about 5pm today... spending a few hours on the couch while the Seahawks played the Rams on TV. Well, honestly, it was pretty much ALL sports all day on the TV. Flames & Red Wings, Cowboys & Eagles, Blackhawks & Blue Jackets, Colts & 49ers, Wild & Kings, Angels & Yankees... yeah, it was a pretty good day for sports on the tube. That NHL Centre Ice package being free for the month may inspire me to pay for the entire year... but that'd mean, I'd have to be around the house... and that's sort of anti-moving out, isn't it?

I'm still re-adjusting to the chop job on my hair... man, it's a ton shorter than what I actually envisioned. It was the length that I wanted... the length! Longer hair was a great blessing for me... I don't know why, but I believe it was. I wasn't the biggest fan of the "hockey hair" mullet I was growing, so I did want to take that down a notch... but it all sort of went in the chop. Ah well...

The family Thanksgiving meal will be tomorrow... I was sorta looking forward to the turkey tonight, but it wasn't to be. At least there will be tons of turkey for sandwiches through the week. If there is one thing I can never get sick of... turkey sandwiches. Dark meat, mayo, cranberry sauce (a lot of) and a sprinkle of salt & pepper on whole wheat bread... cut diagonally through the middle... WITH crusts. Fantastic. The holiday season is only good for turkey sandwiches... that's what I enjoy the most, hands down.

When I finally got my ass dressed this afternoon, it was only really to walk to the store to pick up some pop and chips for the evening. I was pretty sure it was gonna be a quiet night tonight... I know, I was thinking about going into town to see Julie on her birthday, but after the day of being ill and hungover, more drinking was gonna actually hurt my debit card more than my body... although I had some pretty sore areas from the night before.

Wow, can I ever take myself off-track or what?

Anyways... my walk to the store... I was going somewhere with this, believe me. Yeah, so I didn't have my MP3 player with me, when I got home from the bar the night before, I let it run all night, until the battery went dry. So, I had my thoughts to myself... and well... I scare myself with the amount of thinking I do. If I had a voice recorder or something I could carry with me to write to my blog from, this would be a much scarier place to read.

Things I came up with, although some of these items I may have come up with before in my continual thinking process, but it may be the first time it reached the Tales.

Women... I don't like my chances actually finding one that would make me happy "forever." I'm very pessimistic on the whole topic. The only reason why I actually care, drool and put myself out there is because of these stupid instincts to. I suppose it makes for great writing too. This instinctual need for a lady-friend also brings a fear of dying alone. I enjoy my single life... I have time to do the things that I wanna do, drink what I want to drink and watch sports until hell freezes over. But no, I still lean towards the lovely complication that a wonderful girl naturally brings.

What else was I thinking about?? I think there was more that had to do with drinking... when I left the house, I asked Pa if he wanted anything from the store. He asked me if I was gonna be home for dinner... 'Yes, Dad... I'm only goin' to the store.' Okay, so the bar is a door or two away from the local corner store... but no, I didn't quite feel like making it back-to-back nights. Instead, just to grab a bottle of Pepsi and stuff. It looked pretty dead at the bar anyways as I walked by... even if I was going, I probably would have changed my mind when I saw the empty parking lot. It is the Thanksgiving Sunday and a lot of normal people are having their gatherings and turkey tonight. Not me, man!

You know what I read this week, which I still haven't done yet, but will do... there are a lot of CDs now that are "copy protected" with all the anti-piracy bullshit that I can't actually copy onto my MP3 player, even though I have purchased the CD. For example, the new David Gray, Foo Fighters and Dave Matthews Band. Well, here's something that I never really thought of... all of these new CDs have a program on them so you can share these songs "legally." You can copy this CDs of "protected content" to your computer as .wma files, which don't play on my MP3 player. But once you copy these .wma files to your computer, you can create new CDs and from what I understand, the copy protection gets lost in the process and voila! You copy the burned CD to your hard drive as whatever format your player can handle and there you have your digital music. Brilliant! Also, you have a copy of your disc that you can throw around in the car... if one was to have a car.

Well, I think I'll sign this one off now... I'm gonna try and make up some of the sleep that I've had troubles getting back these days. Tomorrow will be a good day to clean up all my loose ends in the finance department and maybe tag a few cans of beer as well... or something like that. Bring on the holiday Monday!
