Solid 8 Hours

Ah yes, Saturday... I'm much more refreshed now and feel involved enough to maybe put a little post together this morning. It's sure nice to see Justin chime in again with a comment... and a couple posts on his site. I almost thought that he disappeared from the face of the Earth.

Well, I suppose I could go all the way back to Thursday, since I really haven't been eagerly posting since... a couple little tests and my moan for yesterday didn't really cut it, did it?

It was a quiet day in the office on Thursday... well, Friday too... so I was glad when I got a phone call at about 2:30pm from Pa wanting to know if I could get out of the office for about 4pm. Emphatcially, I responded I could. I had completed the owrk I had to do on that big ass project that I was working on not long before he called, so I was pretty much free and clear to get out of the office. (See that Millennium... I could get out of the oiffce early... there is bosses in the world that acknowledge the outside world!) What was even better was that Pa called at 3:20pm and said, 'can you go now?' HELL YEAH!

As I was leaving, Lee commented... 'it must be nice to get out early, eh?' To which I responded, 'it would be, but we're probably going to a job site or something beforehand.' Lee nodded and accepted that fact as I went out the door. The ride had arrived.

Sure enough, we were off to some Bentall warehouse buildings that a client wants a new office installed... so we're meeting Pa's manager John (who is Taffy's Tyrants in my hockey pool) at the warehouse to be shown a space where this office is planned to be built. But wait... there's more! Then we're goin' to Brewster's on 52nd Ave for a pint. Woo hoo!

Wham! Bam! We're outta there... to Brewster's! It was a quick change, I know... but I thought I would just cut out a lot of the bullshit, just to save your time and mine.

Raspberry ale, Bruins/Panthers on the projection screen and a plate of chicken wings and we were in business. Joining the three of us was Steve, he was the guy showin' the warehouse to the guys. It was quite a good chat... John is originally from Wales, Steve is originally from Sheffield... although you'd never really figure it out. He had really lost his accent. A few pints and a lot of laughs later, we managed to get out in relatively good time. I had called the Andersen's to see if Rob wanted to go down to the Wildfire to antagonize some Flames fans, since the Flames were having their home opener against Dallas. When I called, Michelle had answered and said that Rob was actually waiting for my phone call. Damn predictability. So, Rob & Michelle were to meet me at the Wildfire for the game and a drink.

Notice how I haven't been home when I arrive at the bar... Pa dropped me off and as I walked across the parking lot, Rob and Michelle pulled up and the timing was almost scary. Three beers in already, I was mildly creeped out by it. Especially since Pa and I had driven in from town and we only guesstimated when we'd meet at the bar. Interesting.

It was a half-full pub that night when we walked in... Gord (Team Lowes Racing) was in there after a day on the Langdon job site with the other Gord and Glenn. A few people scattered around the bar waiting for the game. AJ (Team Chevy) was at another table with a couple other people and the three of us found a table closer to the back of the place. We didn't get a prime spot in front of the big screen, mostly because we were gonna be the peanut gallery for the night. Marny was the girl on the floor for the evening, which was pretty good.

Rob & Michelle (Maximus Orillius & The Slim Pickens, respectively) chowed down on some ribs... I would have eaten, but I did have some chicken wings and I was already getting filled up on lager, so I wasn't all that hungry. I did start the evening at the bar on Vodka/Red Bulls... oh, how I miss those from the nights out in England. As the game played on the screen, we chatted and drank away... Rob & Michelle are off to Florida for 10 days on Sunday night/Monday midnight... lucky kids. It was quite funny, they bark at each other at every point as well... man, it was a tad being a third wheel for those two... heh heh.

The Flames lost to the Stars in overtime, 3-2, and we cheered for every Stars goal and shut the hell up for each Flames goal. As antagonizers, we did our job well. I think we wound up AJ and Gord pretty well... I was hit by flying napkin-balls and straws, I think. Good fun for all. Heh heh.

After the game, Michelle beatled off home and Rob and I continued to drink and play some pool. Rob & I played one game before there was a guy, Ron, who as soon as we teed off, put his loonie on the table. Rob & I looked at each other and giggled... boy, was he looking for a game or what? I ended up losing the first game and so, I walked around and chatted with people... Shelley and John (The Late Impact) were up at the bar... there was another fella up there, who I was chatting with... don't remember his name though. I also chatted with Marny a bit too... and dumbly half-asked her out.

Oh the "good ideas" I have when I drink.

You know, I wasn't terribly drunk... the Vodka/Red Bull paced me pretty well. I wasn't in a big hurry to get slammed and obviously by the memory that I have of the night on a Saturday morning is pretty good... so I do give myself some relative credit there.

So, anyways, yeah... I chatted with Marny... poked around at what the chances would be of getting her out... but the nonchalantness in her voice wasn't very forgiving... so I really got to stop doing that sort of thing with her.

A couple more games of pool and we took off. It was not a bad night considering... there were a few shots and Rob was pretty gunned in the end. Heh heh... good man. We chatted on the walk home about anything and everything "important." Learned a few more things about him as a whole. Was a pretty good night. Got in the house around 1:15am... in bed by 1:30am.

That was why I was so tired yesterday. A quiet day at work with a few things to do to keep me busy and such was alright. Meathead was being Meathead and Lee & I ganged up on his expense for a few more good laughs.

Did some banking after work since it was payday... YAY! Home to watch half of a couple films, Sahara and the Interpreter... both were just okay, nothing amazing. And as tired as I was, I still didn't sleep 'til midnight.

Up this morning at 8am... got my solid 8 hours and today my mission is to get some financing and maybe even a car today. I NEED a car. It's getting imperative. Anyways... I'm really getting anxious... so much so that I don't really wanna write anymore. I will elaborate more later.
