Minus Two

On the drive into Calgary... it's -2 degrees outside, frost on the windshield and a nip or two in the air. Not to mention all the nipples that won't move in the cold air.

Only a Bacon & Egg McMuffin from McDonalds this morning... waiting for the coffee pot to brew here. It's pretty slow for a 2 serving pot. Why anyone would buy a coffee maker so small & slow is beyond me. It defeats the purpose of coffee drinking, I think.

Well, talk about being held over the proverbial barrel... and pun, if you like... but just as Rita hits the shores this weekend down south, the gas prices are soaring over $2/litre in Hamilton... and the sick thing of it all is, I'm now shopping for a car. Is that not grounds for insanity somewhere in the world? Unfortunately, necessity isn't insanity... although it's gonna try it's best to resemble it. (Ahhhh... coffee, that wasn't too slow, I guess).

Also in shopping for a car... I wanna get a small loan to get a car from my bank, Scotiabank. I just want to get the money now, so I can get a car, well... now! I have every intention of paying back the loan really quickly and having that done and dusted. Well, apparently, I'm not needy enough to get a loan. I don't have enough of the requirements in order to take a long time to pay it off. Well, DUH! So, either I have to go buy a house or have a few kids to work myself into enough debt to be able to qualify for a loan with the bank. How fuckin' nuts is that?

Is my drinking problem not enough for these people? I mean, I'm in no position to actually "save" money... I'm in a position to pay my bills (which is a good thing) and piss the rest away. I can't be alone in this sort of predicament, I'm sure. Nevertheless, I'm gonna be waiting a little bit for a car anyways.

Yesterday was a busy day 'round the office... I got so much shit done. (A small pat on the back for me!) Pa was gonna be a while, so I thought I'd treat myself to the pleasures of the eye and visit Joey Tomatoes again. It had been a little while, with all the stops at the Wildfire of late. I braved the winds and the small amounts of rain (which wasn't much) for my half hour walk to a place where the view is always great.

I had a few pints there... caught some highlights on both TSN and the Score. A little bit of the Jays/Mariners affair and even a little pre-season hockey, Detroit and Columbus. Fantastic. I couldn't be happier. Pa sat and joined me for one... I had three for the time I was there, at a good pace, but was my chatty half-cut self again. That's not the worst thing... I'm just super-social when I've had a bevvy or in this case, three.

Home, dinner, fooled around on MSN Messenger with Julie... you know, emoticons can be dangerous things if they're not used properly. Just a word of warning. They should almost come with their own warning labels or something... you know, just in case some of those safety freaks need something else to do. Then it was bed time for me. I think that was only around 9pm. I did have another can of beer with dinner... and with the lack of excitement around the house, beer just knocked me out. Fine by me... I got tons of sleep last night. I feel like I'm caught up now.

This weekend is unplanned. Highs of 14 & 15 on Saturday and Sunday... so it shouldn't be too bad outside. I might try and get out a little bit more. My ankle is feeling much better, although I found the beginning of a gopher hole yesterday on the walk for lunch. Just a little tweak, but I felt it. It was the first sort of tweak for a couple days and I hadn't been wearing the brace of late either. So, things are on the up and up there. Might try and find a round of golf somewhere... I still haven't been out for a round this year. Might as well make the first & last round a good one.

I have come across a neat little Blog on BlogExplosion... check it out. It makes me giggle a bit each time I pass by.

Well, this morning's story I think now can be wrapped up. Things should line themselves up for a decent day. It may be really quiet here today... I have to ring up a client in Nevada this morning 'cuz all the e-mails I sent him yesterday had all bounced back overnight. How nice.

I'm a weekender... get me outta here!
