The Afternoon Will Drag
I went out to pick up something to eat a little earlier than usual... it's stupid slow. It shouldn't really be this slow. My awful, awful client yesterday should have gotten back to me already this morning about a bitch of a project that was filed with a ton of errors yesterday (not my fault) to make all the amendments for another filing today. Well, yesterday's debacle was all due to time constraints, I have a feeling it's coming again.
I made all the necessary changes (I think), but the client hasn't proofed it yet. If she calls back this afternoon too soon before the filing deadline, then I'll fuckin' scream, I'm sure.
Oh... now a great big freakin' report has come in... lots of work on that one. Looks like it'll be a 3-day project... yes! Actually, no... not really. Well, sorta. It may have it's merits... but I'll try not to think about those.
I also have one more proofing that needs to be done, but the one in question should be a cinch to get passed the proofer. Nice & easy one...
I might just get started on this big one... the boss has to approve it first, but with the size of it, the money would be ridiculous to turn away.
The afternoon will drag though... I'm pretty sure of it. I just wanna get to the bar and get this draft going. All my prep will finally be put to the test. I enjoy that sort of challenge. Only one drink for me as well tonight. I think a double vodka & Red Bull equivalent will do me fine... it'll both keep me awake and take that edge off of public speaking. I'll let everyone else get drunk in front of me tonight. That's a great plan. No more weekday benders... for a while.
Well, I've done another couple follow ups and everything is coming in now... okay, finish those up and get started on the big one. That means I'll have to leave this for now.

If times get tough, just think back to those uncomfortable steel-toed security shoes and the bunch of Muppets from days of old...
Good luck with the nasty client. Maybe try to be "Jedi" about the situation. Use the force, think, and beyond that, just get the job done and said client out of your hair.
