Punishment
I've obviously have been a bad boy of late, because I'm sure punishing my body for the sole purpose of entertainment. I've really gotta stop this madness, because I'm bound to just have every part of my body shut down.
Thursday's bender was quite punishing on Friday... which was well-documented, but I didn't get the full story until Saturday afternoon. Rob and I spent $240 at the bar... I received what looked to be a burn on my right shoulder from something... I tossed my cookies at the bar... and I kept on goin'!! Yeah, man... I don't know how I do it... but I do.
Friday night was a quiet one... I was still feeling kinda ill on the way home after work, so I was pretty sure I wasn't going to do much of anything. So, I didn't. I stayed in and kept to myself for the evening. That was quite good.
Saturday morning, I was woken up by a knock on my bedroom door... Dad wanted to know if I wanted to shovel gravel off the road that one of the dump trucks working for him lost... needless to say, I declined the offer. As it turned out though, I wouldn't have had to do anything all day with him except count trucks and I would have been paid for it. Oh well... I found other things to do. Instead, I cruised the neighbourhood with a beer in hand and another in my pocket and I went to visit the neighbours.
First, I visited Cory and told him about the hockey pools... if he's around, he said he'd be in. Excellent. Then I went over to Rob & Michelle's to see what they were up to. Rob was digging holes for new trees... so I decided to stand around and supervise and play with their dog, Chester. It worked for me. In the end though, I was helping out with heavy lifting and planting of some of the trees, just 'cuz Rob's hand still hasn't healed from his surgeries and didn't quite have the strength for some things. The tree planting took a good portion of the afternoon and I decided to head home for a bit to see how Mom was doing. I thought I might head back as R & M were having a few people over for something or other... but I thought I'd clean up a bit and get something to eat first.
When I got home, Mom wanted to go see if Dad was finished out at the job site in Langdon and check if he was in the bar. Well, I bet you figured that I said no, right? Nah... didn't think so. Of course I went. The boys were still digging their holes and moving the top soil out of the lot beside the bar, so Mom and I continued on our merry way inside to wait for them.
Once inside the Wildfire, we were greeted by Theresa... she was around for the Thursday night debacle and chuckled a little bit I came through the door. 'Are ya in for the night?' she chuckled... hmmmm... I'm thinking the reputation is getting a little bit bigger. It's nice to be known around these parts now... ha ha ha. Anyways, Theresa was our server for the afternoon and she had to give her little spiel about the specials. It was quite funny, 'cuz she was having a hard time reading the daily specials board over on the wall... so hard that she was reading Friday's specials instead of Saturday's... Mom decided to point that out to her. Cute girl, not too sure if she's got the hang of the work though. Heh heh.
Mom & I ate before Dad and Gord walked in... Gord is the superintendant for the job in Langdon... he's a pretty nice guy. So we all sat and ate and drank for a while... then Mom shot off... and Gord said he'd buy another drink if Dad & I stuck around... then Dad decided to shoot off... and the offer was made again by Gord... so I stayed a while longer. Well, time seemed to be poured down my throat and before I knew it... Gord and an ex-girlfriend of his, who works at the Wildfire (small world!) were occupying each other's time, so I bailed.
There is no recollection of the walk home or the visit I made to Rob & Michelle's at 1:30am to see if they were still partying. Apparently, I was pretty dejected to hear that they were shutting it down for the night, so I headed home.
Sunday morning was somewhat hazy. Mom had cranked the stereo in the morning, which she always used to do when we lived in Kelowna. It's to help drag my sorry ass outta bed, but it didn't really work. I could remember a few notable songs come on and then fall back asleep. I slept until just after 10am when Rob phoned me on my cell. Waking up to the Mr. Plow theme song (my ringtone) is quite surreal on what is supposed to be a hangover.
Rob was off to town to play ball and wanted to know if I wanted to go. Apparently I said I would when I showed up on Saturday night... not that I remember. Yeah, he gave me a few minutes to get ready, so I shot out of bed, got dressed, combed my hair, grabbed my glove and ran out the door. Mom didn't think I would be up let alone going out when she saw me. Ha ha... too funny.
I made it over to the house and they were just packing up to get goin'... there was a cup of coffee for me in a travel mug (Rob & Michelle are way too nice) and we were off to Optimist Park. Once I had a moment to relax in the car, I realized that I was still pretty drunk. There wasn't much of a hangover at all, despite the drink session the night before and I was actually feelin' okay.
It wasn't until after the game that I cracked a beer with the team. When the game was over, a few from the team... Wayne, Jennie, Dalys, Rob, Michelle and myself all sort of setup camp (or picnic, if you will) beside one of the diamonds and we watched another game or two. Then it was off to Waynes for more drinks, including Snakebites until about 10pm.
I skipped over quite a few details... just 'cuz I wanna finish this post. It was a good night... I was fairly drunk... home by 11pm... lost my keys, I think at Wayne's... still gotta figure that stuff out.
Busy day at work today... getting trained on more things. Been good today... not really that hungover today, which is nice... just tired. I'll write later, I'm sure.
