One More Sleep Before Hockey Season

Well, I had to wake Chris up this morning. As I was out the door at 6:55am this morning, I noticed his car still wasn't gone and there wasn't a light on downstairs, so when I was pulling away in the car, I gave him a bell and yeah... pretty sure I woke him up. He'll probably still be a little late, as he normally leaves a little before I do in the morning, but at least he won't be very late as he might have been.

Last night's activity was going out to see Josh's football game up at McMahon Stadium (where the CFL Calgary Stampeder's play). A little Monday Night Peewee Football action. It was Josh's team, the Colts vs. the Kodiaks in the first game of the evening, which turned out to be quite the eventful match. With three minutes left in the first half, the Colts punted the ball away to the Kodiaks. Unfortunately, after the play was finished, one of the Colts was still left lying on the field. What I had heard from overhearing the coach later was that the poor little bugger took a helmet-to-helmet shot and by the sombre-ness in his voice, it didn't sound good. Eventually, an ambulance was called in to take the poor guy away. It took a long while before the ambulance was off the field and taking the boy to the hospital. Eventually play resumed.

The fourth quarter turned out to be a fantastic display of Peewee football. You know, best of their abilities and such. With the Kodiaks and Colts tied with under 10 minutes to go, the Kodiaks make a charge down field. After a couple first downs, a 30-yard run finished the drive off in the end zone. Unfortunately, the convert was not converted by a bad snap. The Colts got the ball back with just over three minutes to go and in the same fashion, marched down the field and had themselves an over-20 yard run to score a TD with a minute to go. Unlike the Kodiaks though, the Colts converted their kick and took a lead with a minute remaining. The Colts would then recover the the fumbled kick-off and that was it for the Kodiaks. It was quite the finish to the game. I really wish I didn't forget my camera.

I was home again just before 8:30pm and it was a quiet night for the remainder of the evening. Jen was home from work at Starbucks just after 10pm and then it was pretty much bed time.

This morning's jersey is my Washington Capitals #16, Trevor Linden jersey. I'm still counting down to the start of the season. Yesterday it was my Minnesota Wild #10, Marian Gaborik jersey. Tomorrow, for opening night, it will be my Ottawa Senators #19, Jason Spezza jersey, since they'll be opening up against the Leafs on TSN tomorrow night. Woo hoo!

I'm expecting a whole load of pool sheets today... not to mention having to go out to Langdon tonight to collect a few and some monies as well. I'll probably have to do some rounds again around town tonight... gonna try and catch up with Randy at his place in Riverbend. I've only got 22 people who said they'd be in and even some of those aren't for sure... so I'll have to push some buttons today and see what I can drum up.

That's my plan for now... have a good day, eh!
