It's October Already?

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingGood morning... for a Monday. The winter driving season has begun. Yeah, it was pitch black outside on the drive to work, somewhat due to the rain that was coming down and the clouds that were dropping it.

Well, it was a pretty decent weekend. Yes, the wagon had left me behind on Friday night, but it wasn't Kelly's fault. Just my own. Actually, I didn't even see Kelly, so his fault was not even close to being there. Friday night, Chris and I went over to the pub and ventured into a few pints, but that was all... minus one shot of tequila for Ash. It wasn't too bad though... did feel sort of rough on Saturday for some strange reason.

Saturday was my running around day for the hockey pool and such. I went and picked up some new stuff for the pool, including a file folder for all my documents and money, a new numeric keypad for my laptop... and then a few other things for me, including a new mouse, the new Kasabian album, Empire, and a few other bits and bobs. Quite the productive shopping outing. Then I went and dropped off the photo CD and a pool sheet for Alan, then out to Langdon for a few hours to see Dad. There, cleaned out the car a bit, got his computer sorted (finally!), played a game of horseshoes, got his pool teams and collected some money from other people who are taking part in the pool as well. After a few hours out there, I went down to Lake Sundance for a little while to hang out with Josh and the gang. Josh, Dale and the across the street neighbour, Mike all got into the pool. I was pretty pleased with all of that. I tried to get a hold of Randy all day on Saturday, but by the time I had to head home, I didn't get a hold of him and he didn't call me back.

Saturday night, I agreed to go with Julie to go see Stabilo play at the student bar up at SAIT, the Gateway. Doors opened up at 8pm and the opening acts came on around 8:45-ish pm. The Suits XL and Tom Swick opened up for Stabilo and they weren't too bad. The Suits being the better of the two acts... really upbeat. Almost bought their CD there, if I was carrying any cash with me into the concert. Tom Swick had the nerve to cover Karma Police by Radiohead, which seemed kinda odd to me-and to Julie for that matter-that a guy who bills himself as a Warner recording artist (who hasn't made it very far), would be pushing a cover, no wait, at least two covers, because he did Paul Simon's Graceland as well. He only had a half hour set and he took his sweet time with covers.

Julie and I actually got ourselves some kick ass seats (in General Admission, go figure) at a table pretty close to the stage. It was actually quite cool. Before the opening acts came on, this girl, Anya, who came up and asked us if the other side of the table was taken. We said no, so her and a couple of her friends came and sat down. They thanked us profusely for the seat and one of the guys was some sort of promo guy and to say thanks, he gave Julie and I promo tickets to see the Trews and the Stills at the Gateway on the 20th. Sweet, eh?? I thought so.

When Stabilo finally came on, Julie and I had moved from our good seats to the front of the stage. We knew sitting wasn't going to be the way to go and in the small venue that it was, moving up meant getting really close to the performance.

And we were close! The show was actually pretty good... I did know quite a few of the songs, as I did listen to the album quite a few times at work. It's not a bad "at-work" CD, so I did know quite a bit. The set went for just over an hour, I think... by that time I was well ready for a beer. Since I didn't bring any cash on me, I didn't end up getting any drinks at the bar... so I had to wait until after the show, when we met Chris down at the Yardhouse.

I had a couple more drinks more than the Friday night, which sent me for a good loop. I had pounded them back quickly as we didn't get there until 12:30am and they would be doing last call in no time. It was quite a good night, really... Chris & Julie would be gangin' up on me and I'd come back... really, just back and forth. It was pretty funny.

Sunday morning came like a shot. Apparently, I was sleep walking in the early hours of the morning, 'cuz Jen woke me up at 8:30am and I was on the couch. I didn't know how I got there... but I was there. So when she woke me up, I just went right back to bed. Ha ha. Jen was off to church, so it would be a good sleep... and it was. I didn't get up until 11:30am.

My only objective for the day was to get opiatedsherpa.com up and running for the hockey pool... and thankfully, I did! It's not much to look at now, but the hockey pool information is on there now, so it's up and running now! It's a work-in-progress, but it's working and that's the main thing.

The remainder of the day was spent putting everything online and an excursion to Chinook Mall and Toys R Us with Chris. That's about it. I picked up CDs by the Trews and the Stills, so I had an idea what their tracks were when I actually go see them. I didn't have anything by them, so that was my chance to become learned.

Now the list is updated to reflect the new CDs for this year. It's getting to be a pretty decent list now, eh?

Well, that was pretty much the gist of my weekend. Should still be a quiet week here at the office. It'll give me lots of time to get all my pool shit done to start the season on Wednesday. It'll also give me some time to work on the new homepage for Opiated Sherpa Productions... heh heh. That'll be fun.
