Working the Holiday Monday
Well, I thought I'd take some time from my busy day and do my post on the Tales for the day. And by busy, I mean... stop playing poker. Ha ha. I did actually finish on the upside on my $2 I took into the $0.02/$0.04 table... a whopping $3.12 away. I was up over $5 at one point, then my AQJ flush was beaten by a AKQ, bastard... ha ha. Oh well, I made it all better with another flush draw win, it got myself ahead again. A far cry from the $13 I'm still down from my original $25.
Last night, Jen disappeared to a stagette party last night, one that she didn't really wish to go to, because of fighting with her sister. Jen's not a big fan of the other females in her immediate family, both her mother and younger sister really get on her nerves. She was arguing on the phone with both of them, trying to figure out how she'd get to this party and it was turning quite nasty. There must be some sort of Alpha Female gene in her family that none of them seemed to want to stand down in any of these arguments. Finally, she arranged for her Dad to pick her up and drop her off.
So, since Jen was gone, I invited Chris up to watch the Hall of Fame Game on TV. We sat and enjoyed that for a little while, but it wasn't long before that urge to go to the Yardhouse came back, so we walked over there during halftime. Chris, on the way over said to me, "Ashley isn't working tonight... I saw her walking North on 10th Street with some guy." I scoffed, "so?" Trying not to be bothered, which I guess I sorta was, but it really didn't faze me too much.
There, it was Pat behind the bar and low & behold... Ashley was working. She was pretty happy to see us, of course. But the real news was that it was Pat's last night at the Yardhouse, he's changing jobs, going over to Earl's in Dalhousie. So, we had to give him a bit of a hard time and he gave us a pretty sweet deal. We were there for quite a while and I think it only cost us $20 each... I know I had 4 beers and 2 shots... good man, Pat!

Ashley inquired if I was still going to the Wolf Parade concert on the 15th and I had responded with a 'yeah.' Apparently, she's going with a few of her friends. Then the conversation with her all night really just sort of revolved around music. She even brought out her iPod and I got to check out what was on there and I was 'dead impressed.'
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Editors, The Subways, Damien Rice and all sorts of good stuff. Oh yeah, the Libertines were on there as well... just a whole ton of great tunes that I'm listening to at the moment. A girl after my musical heart, so to speak.
The evening ended kinda late, I think Jen was home when I got back, but I wasn't too sure. It was straight to bed for me... and again, I didn't set my alarm.
I woke up at 7:15am... dreaming Homer's motivtional chant that he gives to Kim Basinger in the episode where he's her and Alec Baldwin's assistant after crashing through their skylight. "... and hyper-extend!" Odd. Luckily, I realized what day it was and that I needed to be at work when I first woke up... so I pretty much just got dressed and went out the door.

It was quite the cloud cover this morning. The Sun was visible through the clouds and made for a pretty neat picture. This was done on my camera's automatic setting and the flash came on... that's what made the sky go so pink. The landscape setting returned the sky to a better blue, but it really did look quite pink... or it just could have been my orange sunglasses.
The drive on the holiday Monday was divine. It didn't take me long at all... which was beautiful. Somebody though didn't quite make it so far...

Some unlucky soul didn't quite make it, by the looks of things. It was a pretty substantial looking accident. An ambulance was just coming down to 36th St. & 17th Ave SE when I turned onto 17th... a couple police cruisers and a fire engine. It even looked liked the Bus driver got out and helped as well. Eek.
Well, it's been dead here today. I converted 3 EDGAR filings and did 1 SEDAR filing. The only e-mails I received today were from one client okaying filings and Fred sending me a few. That's it. The office's new tenant, Ther (sp?), came in about 45 minutes ago. Kinda startled the heck out of me, but he is dealing with a client as we speak. I might go back and jump on another table here for a while. I don't really have much else on the go.

Hello, Clayton! Sounds like you had a nice night and an easy day! Stay away from the gambling, it will take your soul away.
Here for click and comment Monday from AFS. Since you do not have a renter, I will hunt for a blog in your sidebar.
Have a good one.
