Saturday...
For the amount I had to drink, I was amazed that I wasn't terribly hungover in the morning. Actually, it was quite the opposite. I was awake by about 2:30am and I mean wide awake. It was quite the joke, really, because I couldn't fall back asleep. I rolled and found new ways to sleep, but nothing worked until I put my head on the other end of the bed just after 4am and then I dreamed until my alarm went off at 6am. I had a bottle of water by my bed for most of the morning to combat dry mouth and what not, but I wasn't really hungover at all. Good score! Let the games begin!
I was up and changed, had a couple cups of coffee before I was out the door by 6:45am. I wanted to be at the diamond for around 7am to get myself warmed up, but I was pretty much the only one who thought that. For a 7:30am start, I would have thought that 7am would have been the normal time to show up and start... but no. No one really showed up for another 20 minutes or so and I don't know if the game actually started on time. I wasn't carrying any time measuring devices, so I don't know for sure what the hell was going on, I just knew I was pretty early. It was a good thing I brought my MP3 player to keep me company until everyone showed up.
Play Ball!
It has to be said. That was the best game that team has probably played ever. We were hitting, we were fielding well and the other team wasn't much of a match for us, really. Our defense was probably much better for our hitting to give us enough runs, but everyone had such a great time since we were winning. You know, I never figured what the final score was in the end, but all I knew was that we won. Since we won, we made it into the B-flight's quarter-finals and our next game was 9:30am on Sunday.
I again found no trouble getting on base all three times up at bat. I hit from my opposite side twice and my normal side once, all three times getting on. Fantastic. Fielding was also quite solid at shortstop. I think I have become their full-time short, so that's kind of comforting to know.
So we were done the game and it was barely past 9am. We still have the whole day to go. My my! Next on the agenda for the day was the Langdon Days parade. The parade was quite funny. Pretty small, it certainly wasn't the Stampede parade by any means. It was more of a Halloween in July for the kids as every float entry was tossing out candy from the sides and the kids came prepared with plastic grocery bags and one kid even had a small box along with him. That was quite funny.
After the parade, it was a short trip home before heading back to the park and to take part in the Beer Gardens part of the festival. As I walked up to park and through the grounds, the new beach volleyball court was full of players. And hey! I recognized those guys... it was the ball team. I was wondering why they weren't drinking yet, but that thought quickly passed as they got me into the game. That was another good hour of excercise and good fun at the grounds.

Finally, after several games... the Beer Garden. The first beer of the day was quite welcomed as was the five or six cans afterwards while we sat there. Suzanne, Lee-Ann, two guys at the back who weren't with us, Michelle, Cory and Todd's wife are all pictured there. Except for Todd's wife and the two guys I don't know, that was a portion of the team. There was a few more that you couldn't see, but I won't go into great detail about it.
There was just a lot of chatting and drinking in the 27 or 28 degree weather and we were racking up beers that counted towards the ball team beer drinking challenge for the Saturday. We opened up quite a lead while we sat there and was pretty pleased with ourselves when we decided to make up some new parties around the neighbourhood. Quite a few of the group there went and picked up some beers and headed back to the street for some horseshoes and cheaper drinking.
Before long, the plans for the BBQ came around and low and behold... another party here at the house. Some details were a bit sketchy there for me. But I did end up drinking yet another 7 bottles without eating too much, I don't think. So, that was pretty satisfying. Suzanne and her two boys, Jason and Jonathon came down to check out my CD collection and they ended borrowing a load of discs. That was okay, since everything is on my MP3 player.
Speaking of which, I think I'll turn on the new Billy Corgan CD. I have been writing in silence so far this morning. Need a few tunes to keep me going.
After the CD raid, then everyone had pretty much left and that was pretty much the night for me. I was pretty bombed by that time of the night. What I didn't know or couldn't remember was that the beer garden was pretty much going all night and did I have a small thought at some point that I would head down there and see if I could meet some more people. Ah well. I did end up sleeping quite well instead. It was still going to be another early morning, so it was probably best if we were playing ball again.
