Butterfly Wings Cause Tornadoes

Now Playing: Matthew Good Band's Loser Anthems, B-Sides. Fantastic. Especially, Flight Recorder From Viking 7... wicked!

I can't say that I'm really inspired tonight to chat about everything or anything for that matter, but I'll try my best. Inspiration to do anything was a little short of expectation after I cleaned up the webpage this morning. Before I knew it, it was 11am and I still was in my pajamas. Man, I'm really beginning to dislike unemployment. Not that I really enjoyed it to begin with, although the sleeping in is fine with me... but I try not to. But again, my lack of inspiration has made me want to sleep in more and more. I want to see what the e-mails have in store for me, but my body says otherwise. I'm fighting a losing battle most mornings at 7am.

Well, let's see what's in the today, eh? Maybe I'll recap a few things and give a Sherpa's-Eye-View on it all. Why not?

CBC.ca is headlining with the Edmonton man now charged with the murder of his pregnant wife. I've gotta say, when I saw the coverage of this last week, when she was pronounced missing... if any of these charges of murder are true, he had me fooled with his pleas to the media. What a horrible tragedy if it is the case, but it's a terrible loss for him if he's innocent. Granted, he was part of the search party that found the body outside of the city limits. That's probably what tipped the police off more. Crikey. Why would you be in the search party, in the general area of the body if you were guilty? Chance that they don't suspect you? I don't know... the police would have someone watching reactions and facial expressions throughout the search and investigation (I almost typed invitation, heh heh). Wait and see... tough situation to be in, I'd imagine.

NASA has delayed their shuttle lauch until at least the 26th. It'll be great to see a shuttle take-off again and get the space program going again. I have great admiration of the space program and I'm hoping they get it all sorted out soon, because this planet sounds like it's gonna go bust sooner than the news agencies are reporting. better be getting their asses in gear and get the funding they need to finish that Space Station. I find it amazing all the crap that the space program has to wade through to get to the greater good of this race. I mean, obviously the greed of the people who are alive today is more valuable to the greater good down the line or else we'd probably already have plans to be on the moon.

Okay, tangent time. I think I'll tackle world energy. Sure.

Don't you think with the billions and trillions of dollars, pounds, yen, rubles, euros or whatever the favourite currency is at the time, that the oil companies would have a little bit of foresight to develop wind, solar and hydro power? Now c'mon, that just makes perfect financial sense. Fuckin' hell... I mean it's the Ford Motor Company (or so the commercials are telling us) that is developing the Hydrogen engine is vehicles. If I was on top of Shell or Texaco or Esso or Mobil, I would be throwing money to buy into these projects.

I suppose this cuts into the Middle East war debate and there is more crap attached to these theories, but it can't be that difficult. Instead of burning oil wells in Iraq, there could be a ton of wind turbines. I'd imagine it gets pretty windy from time to time in the desert. Why doesn't groups like and all the other tree huggers provide solutions like this to companies instead of acting like asses and protesting like muppets? I would imagine if Greenpeace copied and pasted what I've said in this Blog and popped it into a media release and gave it to all the tree-hugging outlets in the world, it'll get published and it would get noticed. Then people would see this and start asking questions themselves putting all sorts more pressure on governments and companies to move along further on energy programs and then back to the news story above, the space program.

I don't know, it seems easy to me. Play the media's heartstrings. They'll take anything and blow it out of proportion.

Oh speaking of the media blowing something out of proportion. This steams me up a bit. The headline reads: "Rogers has another run-in with cameraman" on TSN.ca. Now if one was to actually read the story, it says that Texas Rangers pitcher, Kenny Rogers, had choice words for a cameraman while he was turning himself in for assault charges on two other cameramen.

I'm really getting a sore spot for the media and it's been growing for quite a while. FOX News & their rubbish reporting, Channel 4 News in England & their badgering interviews and the paparazzi just being fucking annoying. Maybe I'm the minority in not wanting to know what Jennifer Lopez is wearing while she's buying a couple cheeseburgers at some fast food restaurant in Buttfuck, Nowhere, filming a movie that no one is gonna go watch in the theatres, because a) it's gonna suck and b) they'll get a pirate DVD. Sorry, tangent ranting.

So, good ol' Kenny had his fuse lit and he blew up at a couple of cameramen at a ball game while warming up. These guys are intrusive, annoying and they won't let off... just to make a story. Fuck them! I don't want media cookie-cutter stories, I want real stories. Lindsay Lohan is another example with her car accident. What the fuck? Now, this other cameraguy is taking the piss, because it's his brethern that's cause all this mischief as it is. Sure, Rogers is a hot head, but he does his best to keep it on the mound. He's human... there's only so much people can take and everyone is different.

If you were to ask for my opinion, which you don't have to, but if you keep reading you'll probably find it laced within these sentences. I don't want the media anymore. Not this society's media anyways. If I had the means, I would start my own newspaper and if there was any sort of opinion or innuendo within the columns of this paper, I would fire said reporter. I want facts. I don't want drama. Events like the tsunami and 9/11 are drama enough within the facts. I don't want my reporters to badger members of the government for information that they aren't going to give and then make assumptions about what they're thinking. I'm sure if the information is pertinent enough to be released to the general public without causing a major uproar then it would be. Hearsay and speculation have no place in the media. Only facts. It's unfortunate that there are people who are ignorant to what's going on and just don't care. They'll take anything fed to them on a plate, which is fine. I kind of wish I was that ignorant. That way, I wouldn't be writing long rants about this sort of thing.

Deep breath... and calm!

Oh, looking at that column on TSN.ca, they don't allow anyone to comment on this story. Talk about afraid to put their brethern in the spotlight when they know the media is in the wrong. That kind of gets me too.

Well, I'm obviously feeling more compelled to be writing now. This is great. This is how far I've gotten in 45 minutes. That's not too bad. It is more of an opinion column, but it is a Blog and not the news. I would like to think that I could portray my own perfect media world. I'm sure I could do it. It would be a lot easier just writing columns on the facts and not diving deep into the throws of opinion.

Hmmmmm... well, as I scrolled up and down the entry, I'm guessing that it could be long enough for tonight. My MP3 player has moved out of the 'Loser Anthems, B-Sides, and Rarities' and into 'The Audio of Being.' Fantastic! Good ol' MGB!

Oil companies are trying the things you suggest. The costs are extraordinary. I once watched the CEO of Exon on Charlie Rose and he alluded to this. OIl companies have the meand and R&D to do this and they will find solutions and alternate means. It was one of the most enlightening interview I ever saw...and I hate fricken interviews. Most are absolutely useless. After all the apologies and a 50k bonus check for dishnorably playing in the all-star game, that moron Kenny 'I'm not that Kenny Rogers' Rogers has no integrity. Maybe he's fed up of people asking him to sign 'The Gambler' on their jerseys.

You gotta ask yourself though... if they were spending the money that they should be, wouldn't there be much more progress?? R&D has come a long way already... implementation would be appreciated!
