Homelands Weekend: Chapter 2
Didn't think much of that Championship Playoff Final... West Ham deserved their win, if any team was to actually deserve it today. I found it better to watch repeat episodes of the Simpsons and then just check back occaisionally to see if there was any up tempo action or goals. Since it was a 1-0 win, there wasn't a lot to speak of.
Anyways, I think I might get back to the story now.
After shoving off to sleep sometime after 2:30am on Friday night/Saturday morning... it wasn't long before I was up. I rolled off the folded out couch at about 7:45am and was up making tea and waking the lads in no time. It almost felt like Christmas again... the anticipation of a great day. Granted, I don't feel that anymore around Christmas, but that's another story.
- 7:45am... up and at it. Coffee and tea.
- 9:15am... out the door, into Winchester.
- Homelands tickets @ HMV... £63.50 a piece.
- Breakfast at the Winchester Bus Station greasy spoon.
- Walked off the breakfast in the parks and footpaths, around the cathedral.
- Picked up a new pair of sandals for me, because I didn't want to wear my clunky black Nike shoes.
- Back to the flat to meet Jutty & Ronan and get ourselves sorted!
Fortunately, I wasn't too hungover, so the walk wasn't too bad. Somewhere along the timeline, Pearce had to pick up some Nurofen for a headache or something.
Back at the flat, Mark and Barry had to get themselves through the shower and dressed. I did it early, because, well, I wasn't quite as hurting as those two and it was really easy for me to get through the shower process. Oh yeah, Barry's shower was absolute shit. Wasn't a big fan of that serious lack of pressure.
Jutty and Ronan each filed in after lunch time while the boys were getting ready and I was admiring my new sandals. By about 2pm we were out the door. Had to get cash and then had to get to the bus. Both of which were not far away at all.
According to the timestamp on a couple pictures, we were on the bus by 2:40pm.

By 3:15pm, we were in the grounds... finally! We had walked up and down a couple great hills to get into this wonderful (possibly?) natural ampitheatre. On the walk we picked up our programs and to my utter distress, Babyshambles were on at 2:00pm in the Live Stage and we had gotten in at after three... so, I was pretty gutted. I was dying to see Pete on stage since I didn't seem him in Leeds. That was quite possibly the one act I had to see... why couldn't I have seen the program earlier?? Why?!?
A can of Stella soon made me feel much better.
In no time, Ronan had disappeared to the Drum & Bass tent (where he stayed all day), I had already turned my neck about a hundred times (my goodness, the women!) and we'd all sat down to enjoy the newly broken sunshine and beautiful day.
