Homelands Weekend: Chapter 6

Finally arrived back at the flat closer to 6:30am... and we died. Mark had to drive back to Colchester, so he took the sanctity of Barry's room and the other three of us crashed out in the lounge. The warmth of the sleeping bag and the comfort of the roll-out couch was more than enough to help to fall asleep in very little time. Unfortunately, the sun through the window and the world roaring outside meant that most of us were up at 10:30-11:00am. It wasn't the most awful thing, I guess... Jutty had to be out the door to meet his Mom for lunch at about 12:30pm and then when Mark finally got up, he was just in time for the European Grand Prix. Not a lot of sleep all weekend was pretty much the general sum.

Jutty had gone, Kimi Raikkonen's suspension blew up to let Alonso win the race and the three of us were ready by about 2:30pm... so we were out the door. We stopped at the Winchester services for a bite to eat... and my Debit card decides to pack up. DECLINED! Gutted. So, Mark was buying for the three of us at Wimpy burger... and well, that was one of the hardest lunches to chew, I'll tell ya. My mouth was in soooo much pain.

We were in there for who knows, probably about 20 minutes or less before we were in the car again to head back to Colchester. Mark popped on the Kasabian album and by track 4 or 5, I was dead in the backseat. I remember coming to again when we reached the QE2 bridge for the toll, but I fell right back asleep. I ended up waking to the Goldie Lookin' Chain album, which was a great chuckle to wake up to. "Your Mother's got a penis..."

Mark had already made it onto the A12 between the time I was unconscious to awake... and that was about the same for Barry as well. The sleep made a long drive short, that's for sure.

Or was it a long drive?

We met up with Lars and Lucy at the Hog's Head in Colchester 2 hours and 5 minutes (roughly) from the Winchester services. Talk about a lack of traffic on the Bank Holiday Sunday compared to the Friday earlier, which was double the journey time. Mark was motoring at some pace to get there when we did.

Being asleep though, didn't give me much of a chance to take any pictures, so there isn't any in this Chapter.
