Homelands Weekend: Chapter 5

If you were early too early, you would have found the header and the Chapter links, but here's the story now! Giddy up!

Well as I left the last chapter finishing off with the Streets, I do remember a few things as my head slowly returned from space.

All of a sudden all sorts of ticker tape fell from the ceiling just after Mike Skinner & his microphone counterpart started kicking off into a play fight, which ended with a pretty decent bodyslam of Skinner. The excitement of the wrestling moves definitely brought me out of my haze and thank goodness I have all those photos and dodgy video clips that I probably accidentally took. The great thing about some of those accidental clips is you can hear me when there is a break in the music talking up some of the girls that were around. I wish I had more quality footage from all the good stories that came out of the Streets performance.

"Down in front!"

Now, if I remember correctly, I think from there we managed to stay around the Bacardi Bar tent for the majority of the evening. New York House (was it Baz?) playing in there. Yeah, after the Streets finished around 11pm, we didn't really make too much further than that. There was a stop in Arena 5 for any sort of miscellaneous house music, not like I could tell the difference anyways.

Things I remember...

  • Barry was dancing his nuts off, making his hat into a swimming pool of sweat.
  • Jutty quietly enjoying himself, not dancing a lot, but enjoying it all.
  • Mark dancing off & on... getting all the necessary ingredients for an all-nighter.
  • My good time turning to pain at what I think was about 2am... my feet hurt and my body wasn't producing any heat... I was in a t-shirt and shorts, so body heat woulda been nice, eh?
  • Getting a cup of coffee and wearing Barry's jumper for a bit.
  • Going into Arena 5 from the Bacardi Bar.
  • Barry taking his jumper back and Mark giving me his coat.
  • Thanks to Mark and his therapy, I gained my 2nd wind and continued to par-TAY for the rest of the night.
  • Jutty and I touring the grounds a bit and stopping in the AfterShock tent... watching a really fit girl dance away, until she left... then we left.
  • The poor guy on acid trying to put imaginary things into bins, opening imaginary doors and counting grass... then Jutty going over to see if he was alright... he wasn't.

  • The sun coming up and then going back into the Bacardi Bar for a couple more hours of dancing before we packed up at around 4:30am.
  • Mark pissing on a bin (pictures to prove it).
  • A wonderful sunrise (pictured right).
  • Lars on the phone and being passed around to everyone.
  • Getting on the bus.
  • A fit girl having trouble keeping consciousness in behind Barry & Mark.

That, I think, is the gist of the Homelands experience. What a GREAT time it was there AND I still kept a hold of my camcorder. But surprisingly, the Bank Holiday Weekend doesn't stop on a Sunday, now does it?
