Lost One, Won One

I brought my laptop into the office this morning, I had to update the Hockey Pool from Game 6 of the Sabres and Hurricanes before Game 7 started this morning. That was actually priority number one for me this morning, I knew that there might be a few people looking for it before the end of the Eastern Final goes. Then I cleaned up what needed to be done for today, which wasn't a great deal, but I kind of milked it, since there wasn't really a flood of filings coming in this morning.

Last night was a beautiful evening... lots of sun and a nice breeze. Before heading out to the ball diamonds last night, I rushed around the house, cleaning up all the empty bottles and cans from around the house and out back on the deck. Oh damn... I wanted to get a picture of all the empties... it looked pretty impressive. Shit. Oh well. So I stuffed them in the back of the car, rushed out to Bowness, 'cuz Chris told me there was a bottle depot out there... but when I got there it was already shut. It shut at around 6pm... and I was about five minutes too late. On the way, I did get a nice shot of the new Children's Hospital, that's nearing completion from the onramp onto 16th Ave from Memorial...

That's how nice of a day it was... I could make out a good picture of it from that far away. It really does look like a friendly place to take the kids when they're ill. So yeah, with a car full of bottles, I headed over to the ballpark and got ready for our doubleheader.

Our first game was against Rusty's... which from the First Pitch Tournament, we had pretty much decided that they'd more than likely be the best competition in the league to us. And let me tell ya... they were. They had a pitcher on the mound that none of us could really touch. There was some contact here and there, but we just couldn't muster any offense from him. He was mowin' us all down left, right and center. I do believe we lost that game 8-0 in the end. We had a couple bad innings in the field, I think only two innings did we actually give up some runs. I had a good night at second base, knocking down and throwing out quite a few runners, which was good. There was a large bit of confidence made in the field. Unfortuantely, the line on me batting was 0 for 3, 2Ks, reached on passed ball strikeout. That was it.

The second game was a little bit more fun against CBA. They were a bunch of older guys, who Rollie and I sort of scouted on Monday night. They were hittable, not very reliable in the field and just overall, not the best team in the league at all. Unfortunately, in my two at-bats before sitting, I again, couldn't really muster any offense of my own. I think I went 0 for 2, grounding out twice, once bunting. But then I was pulled for a rest after my second at-bat and the guys went to town on these guys. Allan pitched a good game again, despite pulling something in his side and the guys were able to get some runners on base and move them around. In the end, we won 9-2.

Yeah... that picture is just a product of a weird laugh Munden and I were having in the third inning of the second game. Too funny. I was really putting the low-light settings on my camera to the test last night. I have learned that since I have the shakes... low-light photography is not for me.

May 29 - Royals - Win (7-5)
May 31 - Royals - Game 1 - Loss (8-0)
May 31 - Royals - Game 2 - Win (9-2)
Jun 1 - Cruisers
Jun 4 - Hooligans @ 3pm

So, the week for ball looks to be pretty promising. Other than the one loss last night, tonight's Cruisers game should work out again. The Cruisers play the Pirates tonight on the South diamond... I wanna catch as much of Game 7 as possible. By the looks of the schedule, the game starts at 5:30pm MT and the ballgame will start around 7pm. Minus a little bit of time for warm up, for me it'll be waking my legs up, then I should catch at least a good part of the first period.

I wanted to see if Barb was doing anything tonight... since I didn't have to make up the rainout game for the Royals tonight, but I have since made my plans to go to Langdon tonight. Go catch the first period in the Wildfire and see how it goes there. I guess if I spend the first in there, then I don't have to go in after the game and then just head home, which would be good too. I don't really feel like spending too much money. Plus, I have to get to Langdon to take in all the bottles in the back of the car. I'm hoping that they don't close too early. Oh wait... there's a bottle depot here in Forest Lawn... surprise, surprise. They close at 6pm... so, I'll just head there straight after work... and then buy a 6-pack for the game at the liquor store next door. Oh, I love it when a plan comes together.

And I think that'll do it... it's pretty dead here in the office this afternoon. I'm waiting to hear back from one of my clients regarding a couple of their filings, but otherwise, I think I will do some more preparation for next year's hockey pool. Mwah ha ha... I love it!
