Concerns Were Rested
Vancouver Moose 2, Calgary Flames 1.Yup, I'll admit it... because I have to... but I did think that the rested Flames would be too much for Bryan Allen and his blueline corps. Nope, they stuck it out... making safe, although minor league, decisions that enabled the Canucks to hang on after scoring a pair in the second.
Three cheers for the rested Alex Auld... he outshone Miikka Kiprusoff and that's even without any hexing on my other blog site. Auld is quickly becoming a small legend in my heart, being given the reigns of the Canucks crease and doing great things (winning 26, so far).
I was sure relieved to see the twins show up as well... my fears of them out of the line-up didn't help the pre-game jitters (for me!)... but they showed up and all was well.
Alright, so that was the hockey... my surprise in the win actually made meeting up with Barb a secondary issue.
Yeah, when I finally got a hold of Barb (in Best Buy, getting a couple new CDs) she said that she got a call from some friends that she hadn't seen in ages and was meeting them at Limerick's and I was welcome to join and bring some friends of my own. Well, that was fine. I got on the horn with Jeff and that lot, no real plans were coming out... there was talk of going to the Landing in Chestermere. but that sounded pretty iffy. I said I would head down to see her though and then meet up with the guys wherever they were. I wasn't going to pass up an opportunity to see her, that's for sure.
Just before then, I had picked up the new Hawksley Workman disc, Treeful of Starling... which has been on my list of CDs to get... and the Rob Thomas disc as well. I was mostly on the phone when listening to the Hawksley CD, so I didn't really get a good chance to critique it as much as I would have liked, I might bring it in to the office here today, since I don't think I brought my mp3 player with me today.
Sort of a footnote to the Hawksley CD... people who are looking to download it are now my biggest visitors via search engines at the moment. And no, I'm not going to post any mp3s of the disc... I haven't done it for any other disc and I don't really plan on doing it now. That doesn't mean you're not welcome to stop by and have a read though...
Anyways, I'll move on...
I met Barb and a few of her friends down at Limerick's... all of which are really cool. The Alexander Keith's was the evening's special... so, the night was turning in my favour quite quickly. To my surprise, Jeff was gonna meet down there as well... I thought I was just gonna be down there by myself until I decided to take off to meet the guys whereever they were. But I think my inkling that there wasn't really a plan to go to Chestermere was more than an inkling.
Jeff met everyone there, stayed for a beer and a meal and took off... wasn't too much to it. I ended up staying, watching the game, jawing with the table next to us and not really getting to spend much time chatting with Barb at all.
When I first got there, I sat on the bench next to her... but when I thought that Jeff had shown up (which he hadn't), I had left the seat to go look for him and in turn lost my seat to Barb's friend Alicia, who had just shown up at that exact moment. So, in actual fact, I got a tad tipsy with her guy friends, Mike and Chris, talking hockey and paying the odd glance over at her, 'cuz well, that's what I was really there for.
I ended up staying there for the entire game, taking a lot grief from the Flames fans and it was all sorta worth while to see her, get a couple hugs out of the deal and a Canuck win.
After everyone had taken off, shortly after the game, I headed up to the Wildfire for a couple... had to give Greg grief, 'cuz he was texting me shit when the Flames were up 1-0, trying to make the $20 bet on the game... which in hindsight, I should have taken... but it didn't matter. Just goin' in with my jersey on and givin' them shit was good enough for me.
Well, welcome to March everyone... a new month... let's see that spring roll in now. Also, welcome to Elisha Cuthbert... the Arena calendar girl for the month. Thank goodness for that.
