You Scratched My CD!!
You know, I've never seen a larger group of drivers be so afraid to get up to the speed limit than in Calgary. And it doesn't just take the fog (that we have this morning) either... I mean, all the time. There are lot of people in the Calgary area that are afraid to use their cars to their potential and reach the government set standards of driving velocity. I know there are some people who drive cars with only 4 cylinders, but I know, 'cuz I drove a few, that they can, in fact, reach the speed limit in a reasonable time. What is so possibly dangerous about driving at 60km/h on bare roads that people have to be scared about? If it's a medical condition, they shouldn't be driving in the first place. If they can't see the signs to know that it's, let's say, 110km/h on the highway, then they shouldn't be driving in the first place.
Exceptions... wintery conditions. Fair enough... I have felt my car slip from time to time, but I was trying to keep the flow of traffic by doing the speed limit. Yes, there are icy patches and blizzard conditions that may warrant taking it easy on the roads, that's reasonable... but this morning... bare roads, a little bit of fog through the route in, but it was bare roads!! On the highway!! Have we not seen the sign Slower Traffic Keep Right? No? Then you shouldn't be driving in the first place. If you have and still choose to do less than the speed limit... the right line was made for YOU.
Ahhhh... that makes me feel a bit better now. I was afraid there for a moment that I would have to use diagrams and little dinky cars to illustrate my point. Luckily, it didn't have to come down to that.
Yesterday was a pretty solid day... pretty quiet with ol' Benny. Went down to Southcentre Mall to look at some girls and just browse the shops. Mostly for the girls... and maybe the food court too. Then over to the White Spot, hoping for girls and a beer... and didn't get the girls. Did get a beer though. Then down to Canyon Meadows to catch the Ringer (with Johnny Knoxville) and have a couple beers at the pub. Then to the "Wildflower" for one as well.
The Ringer was a hilarious movie... Benny and I were dying in our seats laughing at the handicapped humour. That'll definitely be a DVD purchase to remember all the awesome lines in that show.
"When the fuck did we get ice cream?!?"
Johnny Knoxville himself wasn't really all that great... I don't necessarily find him funny, but the supporting cast in the film was absolutely awesome. Now, Katherine Heigl... yeow! I remember her from an excellent issue of Gear or Maxim some years before. She's grown up really well.
Yeah, it's definitely a keeper.
Well, I'm ready for a busy couple days here at the office, so I best be gettin' on... plus, Basil wants to chat... later!
