February's Here!

"Well, I've got some good news and some bad news... the good news is it isn't cold outside. The bad news is... IT'S FUCKING FREEZING!"

Geez, it's almost like it's February outside here in Calgary this morning. After being completely spoiled with chinooks and such, it's only now that we pay the piper, as it were. It's a good thing that it doesn't take too long for my car to warm up.

Well, yesterday was a tad odd... after watching the game, everyone sort of filtered in through the day... it wasn't overly busy work-wise, but it wasn't necessarily slow either. Managed to catch the Slovakia/Russia game as well, watched quite a bit of the medal round events on TV as well and accomplished what I needed to at the office.

In the morning, Mom caught me for a moment on MSN to tell me that Tegan was coming home... she has been having some domestic problems and wanted to come home for a while. That was very disappointing to hear... she was flying in just after 7pm in the evening.

I had let Barb know that I would call her after work and when I did finish, all I got was her voice mail... again. So, I left a message saying that if she could catch me in town then I would go and see her... but although I bummed around depositing cheques and buying a DVD, I didn't hear from her, so I went home.

When I got home... I was kinda sure that nothing was gonna really go my way... Mom & Dad were gonna pick up Tegan, I was sure that Barb wasn't gonna call by then... so I took a nap. After the 4am start and a beer... a nap was a pretty good idea. Thankfully, I got 90 minutes of quality napping in and that made me feel a load better.

The folks and Tegan didn't make it in until after 9pm... I hadn't seen Tegan in what could be almost 4 years... so, it was a great big hug for her, 'cuz she really needed one. She was pretty quiet coming in the door, probably all cried out by then... but it was sure good to see her.

We sat up for a while... but it wasn't too long before I had to pass out again. When I was just about out for the night... a text message came in from Barbara, saying she had a rough day and slept all afternoon. I'm thinking something like that should just chip away at my patience, but it doesn't feel like it did. Mostly 'cuz I fell asleep... ha ha.

Since it's after that stupid Valentine's Day though, I feel a little bit more compelled to chase her down a bit... but what is that really gonna solve?? As history has taught me... I'm not very good at it. Well, I sent her a text this morning... see if I can get her for lunch.

As for the New Pornographers on Saturday... I think I might take Tegan... she'll enjoy it, I'm sure. If she doesn't want to go, I'll give that Tammy-Lee a call... and if that doesn't work... I'll drag Benny out there with me. He may not enjoy the music so much, but he'll enjoy getting out... right Benny???

Anyways... got a couple filings in the inbox that need to be done today... well, one for sure and the other one isn't due 'til Friday, but I'm still in working mode this morning, so I'll do it today. Sweden/Russia is gonna start too... so, I'll listen to that as I work. Canada/Germany goes at noon... so, I can't wait for that!!
