Island News
Not a great deal goin' on at the moment. I think I've pretty much beaten that cold I had over the weekend... it seems as though, I'm just clearing out the rubbish phlegm that had built up in the passages leading up to my head. Excuse me while I choke up some more.
Okay, not really...
Yesterday was a decent day at the office... kept myself busy at least. I've got new projects on the go to keep me busy. I'm trying to implement some new tracking tools on both the EDGAR and SEDAR filing side of the biz at the moment. The EDGAR one is working quite well and building the SEDAR and News Dissemination one is going alright... needs a few more tweaks and then she should be good to go. Talk about making myself irreplaceable.
I've got a few filings ready to get done this morning and then I should be back to my project work. I don't expect today to be overly busy. I'm kind of hoping that it picks up a bit. There should be some companies ready to get their asses in gear, I'm sure.
I think I overheard that Fred & Ernest are going to see someone about the open position at 10am. Hopefully, I'll get to take a look at his resume or something to that effect at sometime today. No more Meatheads!
If it isn't too busy this afternoon, I'll probably update the rest of the Opiated Sherpa Production Blog sites... the Hockey Pool needs updating after quite a few games on Monday & Tuesday and it's been a week since I posted anything on the Scribblings... so I guess I'll do that too. I copied all of my writing onto my USB drive, so now I can post this stuff at work too.
I rented the Island last night. That was fairly entertaining. The 2+ hours went by pretty quickly and the story and action did seem to keep my attention... which is now becoming rare. Ewan McGregor though... much in the Johnny Depp mould... is becoming seen way too often though. I do enjoy McGregor & Depp's work most of the time, but c'mon guys... let someone else have a crack at these stories. Take a few years off the both of ya and then make a glorious return in 2010 with giant blockbusters. I'm sure there are other up & coming talents that can do a reasonable job at simple two-dimensional characters that you portray in some of your big films. And Scarlett, dear... yes, you are pretty hot & all, not quite MY Hall of Fame material... but don't do too much at any one time. I'm sure you can buy enough slinky dresses for all the premiere and award shows you go to on one movie paycheque.
But yeah... the movie, I found enjoyable.
I tried to follow-up with Barbara last night... I don't know if I called too early, don't know if she was working, but I only had the chance to leave her a voice mail, hoping that she'd return the call. I ended up passing out fairly early and only my alarm clock woke me up... so, she didn't return the call. I don't know whether to blow her off now on a possible (but less likely) chance of getting together or trying to call again after work. I'm somewhat torn here... I think more because I'm trying to second-guess what she's doing on the other side of the phone.
Ah well... something for me to think about... maybe I'll just leave her a text.
