Ridin' the Bus
Friday morning, slightly overcast. I think it was spitting a little bit when I was walking to the bus stop this morning. I decided to take the #1 this morning since I used it last night to get home. I must say, it was pretty quick and painless and gave me time to read the book that Tom got us at the wrap-up party, The Thinking Fan's Guide to Baseball. It's a pretty good read so far in it's first 40 pages. I would have read more this morning, but the bus driver wasn't very trustworthy. I had to keep looking up to make sure I we all weren't going to die. I would sure like to brace myself for impact more often than not.
I was mildly productive last night as well... the car was quoted and towed last night with hopes that it will be done for this afternoon. Fingers crossed. There isn't any ball in Langdon this weekend, so it isn't like I need the car or anything. Apparently with the prospect of snow in the forecast, the organizers of the year-end tourney have decided to push it back one more week. That's kind of good for the Cruisers, since there were going to be quite a few from the team gone this weekend. Anyways... back to the car. Lee's Auto Repair up here in Forest Lawn said they'd look at the fuel pump for me for $365, parts & labour. That was only $15 more than the place up near our old office, plus it's walking distance to go pick it up. I'm not overly sure what the tow was going to cost me, but it was just going to be added on to my bill. No biggie.
Jen's Dad was over last night fixing the tap in the tub. It didn't actually take him too long, minus the one trip to Home Depot, but it was al done in no time, really. He's quite the nice guy and a good fella to chat with. I was sort of hangin' around, helpin' out whilst he was working. I knew he was a pretty funny guy when he was coming over picking up Jen, but there wasn't that uncomfortable awkwardness with Jen not being around. She being self-centered and a magnet for his barbs, makes everything just odd in the house. I still laugh, but maybe just a little more reservedly. But last night, it was really cool... he was tellin' me a few stories and such and really fun to be out. He'll be out tonight at the Yardhouse doing the whole party thing with Jen tonight.
That didn't really stop me from taking Jen out for one last night either. Actually, it wasn't just her that met me at the Yardhouse... Natasha was along as well as Dave & Katie. They all finished their shift at Starbucks and came over as well. I had only seen Natasha for the first time in ages on Wednesday... apparently she was in Ontario for three weeks or something. She was looking quite well last night. We didn't stay too long, I think I only had three in the end and I bought Jen a drink and Natasha one as well, just to save her using her credit card.
Ash wasn't working last night... it was mostly a lot of new people. Erin was working behind the bar, she's pretty cool. Kate was also circulating around and said hi. I met Chelsea, both by sitting in her section and wearing my blue Chelsea jacket... "I like your hoodie," she said to me. Strange... it's a jacket, I thought to myself. Nevertheless... met her. Ash is supposed to be working tonight and she was hoping to get Jen's party to work for. It should be a gooder. That was pretty much that then.
I'm really going to have to make a conscious effort to take some pictures tonight. Someone... quick... beat it into my head that I should!
It doesn't look like it's going to be too busy today. It is payday, however. Fantastic! Get the car... go home... make some dinner... and then parrrrrrr-tay!
