A Couple Days Have Passed...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Yeah, it's been a little bit since I've posted. Other than going to the Canucks/Flames pre-season game last night with Fred, it has been a pretty quiet last couple of days.

The weather has warmed up the last couple days from the frosty reception to the new week on Monday. It was a whopping +6 out when I left the house this morning and you could certainly tell. I don't think it was quite that warm yesterday morning, but it was still warmer than -1.

The car has been doing alright... it had a bit of a hiccup when I turned it off at home on Monday night, but otherwise, it's been running quite well. Another positive... man, I'm on a roll in this post.

Been through another few interviews already this week. We're hoping to wrap them up this week as Ernest is off to Toronto next week and we've already interviewed quite a few people. I'm really hoping for a resolution sooner rather than later. There are certainly some qualified candidates for the position, but it's one of those positions that you either like or dislike and it's more likely the latter. Lee was certainly a guy with the disposition to be content with the position... it's hard to say that he liked it, but ya never know.

Monday night was watching the football game... the first half at home and the second half at the Yard. Chris had won a poker game, so he was up for the second half being out and we only had two. It was oddly refreshing knowing that there wouldn't be any idocy in regards to Ash not being there during the week. Not hoping that she'd be there or what to do or say if she was there. Nevertheless... that was it for Monday night. Only a couple and was home and in bed at a reasonable time.

Last night, it was pretty much straight home from work, grabbed my Canucks jersey and out the door again. Fred bought a package of pre-season tickets to the Flames, which included one regular season game up in the bleeders. When we went... we were in the bleeders alright. I mean... the last row in the highest point in the building. It made it really hard to get decent pictures, even with low light settings, but the action in the game was easy to see from so high up. It's not a terrible vantage point... except unless if you know which numbers correspond with which players, it's hard to read the names. Being pre-season, there were quite a few new numbers or new names attached to old numbers, which made the scouting a little harder than normal.

The Canucks lost in the end, but it was just a tryout for a lot of guys who are on the bubble. Matt Cooke was the only regular Canuck in the line-up from last season... new guys Marc Chouinard and Rory Fitzapatrick figured in the game... and rookie hope Luc Bourdon was also in the game for the Canucks. For the Flames, all they were missing was Iginla, Tanguay and Kiprusoff... it was a pretty full side. The Flames took it 3-1, scoring three unanswered goals starting halfway through the second, but the Canucks and their new system held a talented Flames side to a tie game until three and a half minutes to go. Not a terrible game... not a good game either. All the players definitely had their pre-season legs... it was pretty slow.

And that's all I've missed out on, really. No, that's not right.

I've decided against doing the hockey pool draft now. Randy won't be able to make it and a few others I was hoping for won't be able to make it and there just hasn't been a gung-ho effort from anyone, except Dad, about getting in there and doing it. It really kind of sucked. So, I've decided to do a pool more like my playoff pool, selecting players out of a set of boxes and seeing how many people I can wrangle up for that. I figure I could get more 'cuz I'm not relying on them to show up anywhere to do a draft. Hopefully I get almost as many people as I did for the playoff pool... that'd be pretty sweet.

Finally, might be ordering a new laptop with Fred by the end of the week. With the VAIO seemingly have more and more trouble as the days go by, it'd be nice to have something new to play with. I'd keep the VAIO around for other tasks... or maybe lend it to Ma... don't know exactly. It might serve some sort of purpose for something... what exactly, I don't know, but it'll be something. I'll make a note of what we order when in fact we do so.

Anyways... got another interview in 25 minutes, so I should jet.
