Friday's Highlights

Fred & Baby Bird

It was quite something when Fred and I went for lunch on Friday... when we walked out to his truck, on the edge of the bed was a little baby bird. I'm not much of a bird watcher or anything, so I couldn't tell you what kind of bird it was, but it sure scared the shit out of Fred when he walked past it on the driver's side. It kind of startled me as well, because it cheeped and didn't fly away. Actually, it wasn't going anywhere for the most part. It seemed to be quite happy to stay on the back of the truck. Saying that, I ran back up the stairs and into the office to grab my camera. Fred had already started snapping some pictures with the camera on his phone, but I ended up grabbing a couple good ones including a video, which will be posted below this paragraph. We tried to shoo it away when we wanted to take off for lunch, but all the little thing did was fly to the other side of the truck. So Fred picked it up, posed for the camera and then placed it on one of the branches of the tree behind him in the picture. The poor little thing was abandoned by the looks of things.

Friday night was pretty quiet. Chris was off to Victoria to do some electrical work for his brother at his brother's house and Jen was milling about. Since I felt bad about waking Jen up on Wednesday night, I thought I'd take her for a beer or two. So we went off and did that. Had ourselves a couple and then she got the inkling for a burger from Peter's Drive-In. Dammit, I thought... that does sound pretty good, but it'll be busy. Sure enough, once we drive up there, the line-up was pretty huge, both through the drive-through and the window... and Jen really had to pee. So instead, we went to McDonald's. Way to trade up!

At McDonald's, Jen was already half-cut on Crown Floats and when a girl went up to the counter for something small and jumped the line, Jen piped up and sarcastically took a verbal jab at her. All I could do was roll my eyes in disbelief. I would have thought it was on from there. Instead, we just waited forever and ever to get served and/or wait for our order. The McDonald's on Barlow Trail and 27th Ave. NE... slow as fuck.

I dropped Jen back off at home and went back to the pub for another few. I didn't spend too much money that night, so I was doing pretty good. Then it was home and an early night for me. I was still sort of reeling from the big Wednesday night, although I did feel so much better during the day, since I didn't have anything the night before.
