Unusual Surprises
A pleasant surprise on the drive home after an unpleasant one before the drive home... that'll pretty much be the story of the post.
I knocked off work 15 minutes early to walk up to KP Tirecraft to pick up my car, which needed some ball joints and an engine mount... and the unpleasant surprise hit. It took 3+ hours to fix $90 worth of parts to bring the grand total with taxes up around $475... and news that my brakes have only 20% life left in them. Great! Ugh.
That certainly warmed up the Visa card again... crap!
When I got into the car, Pa called me on the cell to check the damage to the accounts... ouch... and to tell me that there was a major accident that was closing the TransCanada Highway at the turn-off into Langdon and the Police would be closing that section of the highway to clear up the mess. So detour for me down 52nd Street down to Glenmore... which was alright, it just means a trip to 7-Eleven.
On the way down 52nd... I got my pleasant surprise. Remember Barbara? She figured into this post here almost 2 weeks ago... you might have to scroll down a bit. Well, she called! She was also on her drive home from work when she decided to call me.
With all the crap and games that have gone on with Theresa, I sort of wrote off Barbara, thinking that she wasn't going to return the voice mail I had left her. Concentration obviously got lost.
So yeah... a turn of good luck. We had a good little chat on the phone and made plans to meet up late on Thursday night. She works evenings Thursday through Sunday, finishing up around 9-9:30... which is about the time I get out of floor hockey. So we're gonna meet up then on Thursday for a drink.
See, that's the sort of good news that perks up the spirits. And it sure beats the hell out of the "hard to get" game that Kelly and I figure Theresa is playing... granted, on the limited information he has, he thinks that Raquel is playing the same game. I don't really think so...
Well... with the prospect of Thursday night at hand and a huge bill for the car to worry about now, I will be now taking it rather easy for the next few days, me thinks. It may leave me to be able to write a little bit more and keep up with the hockey pool stuff as well. Plus, I'm probably due for a good few quiet nights. Beers at home instead of the bar... yeah, that'll do.
