Less and Less

Yes, yes... I know. I'm not writing as much as I usually do. What gives?? Just really haven't wanted to, to be honest. I didn't really feel like it on Friday at work, 'cuz man was I hungover. And the weekend, well... it's really hard unless I don't have anything to do, like I do this morning.

Thursday night, I felt like having a couple with Chris, but the idiot gear kicked in pretty good at the Yardhouse. For some reason, I really felt like drinking my face off. Chris had even left me fairly early and Jen says I didn't even get home until after 2am, angry that she didn't leave the light on at the front of the house and I couldn't get in. Which probably isn't too far out of the question, since she doesn't really leave the light on, so it can be quite hard to find keys and then unlock the door.

Friday, I paid for the debacle, with a serious lack of motivation at work. Thankfully, there wasn't anything new that came in. So, I completed what needed to be done eventually on my desk, but I didn't really extend myself to get ahead of the game for Wednesday. There isn't a lot on my plate for Wednesday when I left, but it could be a little bit of a busy one when I get in there. The afternoon on Friday though, I was spending as much time in the dark TV room, 'cuz the light was just giving me a serious headache.

Friday night, it was a real quiet one. I went and did some shopping for the breakfast for Saturday morning and did a little prep work before Chris and I headed back to the pub. I wanted to go see if Ashley was coming by for breakfast (or better), so we went after 10pm, since we both really didn't want too much from the evening, drink-wise. Well, when we got there, Ashley wasn't working at all and it wasn't overly busy in there, period. So, as disappointing as that was, I suspect that my drunken Thursday night may have played a factor, although I couldn't say that I paid much attention to her while she was working on Thursday. So, it was then only a $20 night at the pub and came home. I didn't stay up much longer than actually getting home, since I wanted to get up in the morning and make breakfast.

Breakfast was really good on Saturday morning. I was up nice and early at 8am, a good hour before the 9am England match kick-off. Eggs cooked with onions and in garlic butter, bacon, sausage, tomatos, beans, toast... yum! Jen really enjoyed it, as she was the only one I made breakfast for.

Chris came upstairs around half-time, Natasha showed up not long into the second half (only for a few minutes, as she was on her break at work). The Rooney sending off and then penalties highlighted the England loss to Portugal and wiped out all the hopes of a more fun World Cup Final. Oh well.

After the match, Chris and I threw the "American" football around at Riley Park, before heading back to the house and watching France beat Brazil 1-0 in another somewhat boring and uneventful match. How uneventful was it??

Yup... Chris and Jen fell asleep together on the couch. I, on the other hand, wasn't all that sleepy, 'cuz I didn't actually mind watching the match, but this is one of the reasons why footy doesn't do so well in North America... no one knows how to handle a nil-nil sort of match.

After the match had ended, it was a slightly uneventful afternoon & evening... Chris and I went into the core to bum around for a while. I went looking for a new CD or two, but came up with nothing. We grabbed a bite to eat at the Eaton Centre food court and then headed back home.

Jen's friend Betty was singing at the local coffee shop in Kensington and Jen wanted to go... unfortunately, she got caught at her Aunt's 90th birthday, 'cuz of parking problems. Natasha came by, as she was going as well and since she's been rather concentrated on me, Chris decided not to join us, or rather was more content being the back-up in case it got a little weird, but I was pretty sure it wasn't gonna get too bad. Shit, with Ashley not working out, at least there is someone who will pay some good attention to me. Since Jen was late, Natasha and I headed over to the coffee shop early to get a seat. Jen actually wasn't too long before she came and met us, which was alright.

Betty's band, Circle and Eighth (I think that's what I heard), was actually very good. Just the three-piece in the picture, sounded a lot like Damien Rice and Chantel Kreviazuk, both in style and in songwriting. A very low-key folk-pop sort of sound, which is getting quite popular again these days. Betty has very good voice... not quite as deep as some pop stars when they want to, but it's still very good. The songs that they had written were very good, especially for all three of them singing from time to time. I was really impressed. I would go see them again in another small gig, if they get it.

After the gig, the three of us came home... we popped Elf into the DVD player. Jen went to bed fairly early in the show and Natasha and I sat up and watched the rest of it on the couch. We just sat together on the couch, no real excess to the story. It was alright.

And here I am... watching the poor American Grand Prix on TV, how unexciting. Looks like I'll go meet Jeff & Benny down at Chinook to go catch Superman Returns. I definitely want to go see it. Maybe I'll give Chris a bell and see if he wants to join us.

Until then...
