Important Memos for the Mind

1. Don't tune an expensive stereo with mixed CDs... especially ones that you didn't make. It may not be common knowledge to everyone out in the world, which is fair enough, 'cuz even common knowledge is hard to come by... but if anyone knew anything about burning CDs, mp3s or anything like that... is that there will be different recording levels, different burning levels, different mixing levels... there are so many possibilities out there that you'll be made to look like a twat when you're wondering why when one song sounds so good and you have to adjust the levels for the next song on the CD. It's almost like wondering why the sun isn't in the same place when you get up everyday at the same time.

As the point was brought up... yes, you probably have a great ear for tuning stereo equipment for bands and yes, that probably means you can make any one song sound really, really good... but if you want to stand at the mixing board all night with random mixed CDs making every song sound its best (granted it's halfway through when you're finished tweaking)... go right ahead.

2. Don't debate in a bar with an over-the-top loud stereo going. A debate should not include the phrases, 'what?!?' or 'eh?!?'

3. Heavy metal music is not the way to make money in a redneck bar. Sure, it sounds great on huge speakers, really loudly... believe it or not, there's only a minority of people in a small, redneck Alberta town who actually enjoys it. No surprise though when the minority becomes the majority in a place where the bulk of the staff and regulars who make their way to the jukebox are metalheads and the vacant majority doesn't show up anymore. I don't know too many country music fans who enjoy metal... and vice versa as well.

Day was long today... didn't make it out of the office until 8:30pm. Think Devin and I got ourselves far enough ahead though. We should be in good shape for the morning. Probably will go in early tomorrow as well. Just to make sure we're alright for tomorrow.

Picked up the new Yeah Yeah Yeah's and Placebo discs today... since yesterday, I forgot my bank card at home and wasn't able to. The Yeah's disc is pretty good... not as punky as Fever To Tell, but that's not a bad thing. Meds (the Placebo disc) is very much like Sleeping With Ghosts, but I didn't quite find the catchiest tunes the first time around, unlike Ghosts.

Well, thought I'd chime in... the stereo thing kinda bugged me. But I'll laugh... and laugh... and laugh. Damn CD just won't keep the same levels.
